The price is rough, but it's the overall market right now. I feel like all cars are up there these days. A loaded Honda is like 50k so I feel like the price is not unreasonable compared to the rest of the market. A 4runner is about the same price as a Bronco. If you have ever had any offroad aspirations this thing is there for you!! If not..yes you will need to get over the fact that you are wasting the capabilities and features of the car.
When you did your reservation? Not sure if Canada has Price Protection, but in US whoever did a reservation in the first few weeks got Price protection. My BL 2.7 SAS (Lux, fully loaded) sticker was $66.9k (USD) and I got for a little over $54k (due 3% under invoice deal, to be trasnparent). But from the 12k discount, at least 7.5k was from Price protection.
Reservation was made about 6-7 months ago, definitely not a super long time ago.

I think, fair to Ford, they are selling them as quickly as they can make them, and probably have a few issues still with manufacturing as the model I ordered was build last week of April and still hasn't made its way to the deal for at least another week or two. So Ford is selling them for as much as the market can bear.

Reservations ended in the summer of 2021, sounds like you never had a reservation.

Honestly I'm with you and I'm a huge Toyota guy myself. We have 3 of them right now. I would choose a new GX every day of the week.

Unfortunately down here in the US where I live there is already a long line for the GX and looks like there will be decent mark up.

My rationale for going through with the Bronco is that they are the top value holding vehicle right now so if I keep it for only a year or two until I get a GX it shouldn't cost me much.
What I think many people don't get is when you guy a car in Canada, you are paying 13% tax right at the top on that vehicle, plus the standard BS charges, like freight, etc which is about $2K. So on a $81,000 vehicle is out the door at $91.5K.

It was an order, just a regular order, built late April, came with a VIN, etc.

No normal car has "value" except for what you value it at. They are all depreciating assets and even though extremely expensive, largely disposable.

Either way, get what you like and can afford and enjoy it. Don't worry that some other dude paid less, there is always someone who paid less. Our two cars cost about the same as the house we bought in 2006 (at the time), worth it? I suppose, we love them both. Will we keep them? ehhhh, we'll see. I'm notorious for wanting something new every 3 years but I really like my BMW. Wife usually holds on for 6 years or so, hopefully the Bronco makes it that long.

The Canadian taxes really put you in the negative deep to start out quickly.

I have to pay 7% up front that I never see again down here in the states. Also an $899 "doc fee". So my $61,800 Bronco will be ~$68k OTD.

Crazy isn't it, how much tax revenue that the government takes over the life of a vehicle. So crazy.

But when you mention alternatives like the GX running the in the same price ranges, I don't see why you keep harping on the point. You drop $60-75k on a Bronco or GX you are still paying the same tax rate, correct? That tax rate sucks, but not really relevant to the discussion unless you are looking at buying a Camry for $30k vs a vehicle substantially more.

It's the value in the vehicle, dollar for dollar, at GX will probably end up costing me 85-90K CDN. I'm just saying that to me, there is more value in the GX and the long term residual value will probably be better. Right now the Bronco residual value is high, and I hope that it stays high and that everyone does well on theirs, but I'm not sure how much of that is just a reflection on the current supply issues, and it'll be interesting to see where things are in a year or two.

I don't think that anyone would disagree that Ford is pricing the Bronco to get the absolute out of every single dollar as they are maxing out their current production capacities.

It looks like unless you're going to spend $90K+ CDN your getting a rig with open diffs front and rear, and no matter what you spend you can't get a front locker.....but you may get a massaging back massager. LOL

After the price protection my Badlands is going to be about $65K (4 door, SAS, Hardtop, Lux, Tow) out the door. It really is expensive, but when we were looking for a SUV for my wife the most likely price was going to be $55-$60k too. It is unfortunate that it is just the cost of vehicles these days.

I would personally rather have the back massager.

I had forgot to add the tax, and fees, probably over $100k CDN, for a rear locker. I could probably get Robert Kraft's personnel massager for a few days a week, in my Sas Bronco for less, talk about a happy ending.

Am I the only one here that had to look up what a "GX" even was?
Did I miss something....what is the appeal in those ugly looking things?

Not alone, I think it will compete against the Suburban's and Lincoln's in the school parking lot, during PTA meetings.
