I don’t know if this is still the case, but in 1985 I ordered a new Mustang GT, 5.0, Convertible, optional axle ratio. The dealer in Tampa told me 9-12 weeks. After 4 months I stated calling the dealer, as this was pre-internet and electronic communications, the dealer said they’d call their zone rep to find out where the car was. A week later the message was it had been pulled out of the delivery queue for random “testing”. No more info was available. A few weeks later the car showed up at the dealer. I asked the fleet manager who is ordered the car through to let it sit as is as I’m concerned about this testing. When I got to the dealer the car was still in plastic, covered in dust but with a couple unique stickers. And a letter on the passenger seat. Essentially, my car was selected at random for EPA calibration testing and that 52 miles were put on the car in the process. There was no damage or other sign of abuse, the dealer volunteering that they believed this testing took place on a rollling dynamometer near the assembly plant. There was also a sticker on the windshield with the EPA logo and a Ford logo with the word calibration on it. No idea what all that meant other than I was either the unlucky owner to have their canceled at random or something about my combination triggered it. The dealer said they’d call their “optional axle ratio” might have set a flag due to relatively low order and production rates. Regardless, the car was great, never had any further issues but it may be that type of random screening still occurs today?I just purchased a 2025 four-door Badlands with a blackout package . This is my first bronco. It was supposed to be at dealership over a month ago, but the dealer told me it was on hold at the factory. I asked the dealer if they knew why and they said no sometimes this happens..
The bronco finally showed up at the dealership two days ago . I go to pick it up today and I noticed there was 3 small chips in the paint. The dealer agreed to have them fixed. I’m excited to get the truck so I have them write me a (we owe you note ) to fix the chips.
On the way home, I noticed that there was 70 miles on the truck. I called the dealership. They assured me that the car has been on the lot since it was delivered.
And the mileage is from the factory.
I looked it up online and it said it is not unheard of especially with Broncos. Has anyone else had this experience or know why it would’ve been on hold at the factory or why it would have 70 miles on it from the factory. ?
any information or input would be helpful
Thank you
