After reading a couple of exhaustive threads about sound dampening inside a MIC hardtop, I am wondering if buying a headliner is a worthwhile expense? My Bronco is new and the noise hasn't really bothered me so far, but if a headliner of some sort would be a worthy investment to make it that much better I'm willing to check them out. I don't plan to take on a huge noise reduction project - if it bothered me that much I would have bought a luxury sedan instead!

But for those who may have added a headliner to their Bronco's MIC hardtop, was it helpful? Would you spend $$ to do it again? And which brand?

I can tell you with confidence; it does NOT help much noise wise. Family has MIC without it and it sounds the same as ours that has the liner.
HOWEVER; if you are like me and like Velcro patches of where you been, the MIC liner is perfect for sticky backed patches! *Beautiful*

I’ve been pondering for a while now about lining it with kilmat and then using spray adhesive with some light marine carpet. Not sure how much quieter it would be and would probably add about 20lbs to the top. I’m still pondering….🤔

The dealership replaced my front panels on my 2 door last month in an attempt to stop a leak. Spoiler alert, didnt work. My original panels had the sound deadening headliner and the replacements did not. They had to order them to install later. The few days I drove mine before returning it for the continued leak, I did notice a difference in the road noise being louder without the headliner on the panels. It's more prevalent at high speeds on the interstate. Regular driving around town at 45mph, not really noticeable. The road noise is horrible on Broncos at high speed, so I do feel they help. I have a set of Hotheads by my front door waiting to be installed once I get my Bronco back.

I presume the OP was asking about adding an aftermarket headliner to the existing OEM headliner. It will be interesting the combined effect of the HotHeads with the OEM headliner.

I have the hothead headliners on my Bronco. The one plus is they mask all of the sounds of the top flexing as you drive. It's slightly quieter, but as others have said, at freeway speeds nothing short of a full sound deadening job will help.

Thanks...at the moment I have NO headliner, just the factory MIC top. I haven't noticed the sound being too obnoxious but I'm just thinking of affordable improvements I could be making. The lack of a headliner is one of the things that stands out.
