So I bought a 4 door mic hard top off of fb marketplace yesterday for $1000. It does not have the headliner. This came off a 23 bd. I'm mainly going to use the hard top for Michigan winters and I want a some more insulation mainly and some sound deadening. Where or what should I look at?

How much you looking to spend there's a few ways to go.
First thing first I'd make sure your brackets are adjusted to get a good seal.it takes trial and error. Once that's done and if you determine there's not a good steal I'd look into adding weatherstripping per

Once you got that I'd then look at either resonix cld +fibermat (1 in unless youre a giant) or hot heads (mixed reviews. Personally I don't like that they didn't post before and after spl numbers)
Just my 2c. I have the factory liner (free) and I don't like the idea of ripping it out just yet. So my above recommendations are just that I haven't done it myself so I don't have 1st hand experience but that's what I gather from going down too many rabbitholes

I didn't know there were adjustments that needed to be made. Is that something that regularly has to happen or is it just set it and forget?

Usually set and forget. It takes like 5m to do it. It's to adjust the small differences in the mics manufacturing

I’d go with the Hothead Headliner. There are videos on here and YouTube to see what’s involved. Currently on sale for the holiday.

I put the hothead in my Gladiator Mojave with the sound assassin strips. Minor change in road noise, but pretty significant change in heat and cold into the cabin. If I didn't have the factory one in the Bronco, I'd go with hothead again.

My MIC did not come with headliner (my bad when ordering) so I got the HotHead - I think it looks much better than original and did make a big difference in temp and sound.

there is some glue smell after the install (which was very easy) but it eventually goes away

plus 1 for Hothead - just put it on my 2 door and while I got it for sound purposes, I noticed the temp differences as well.
