Hello all,

I just received IAG full length EZ steps as a christmas gift from my family (so that they can actually get in and out of the Bronco haha)

Upon opening I noticed a small gouge on the main tube. Pictures below. Overall the steps seem sturdy, well built and look great in my opinion. I reached out to customer support who was also fantastic! They offered to ship some touch up or to even fully exchange if I felt it necessary. My in-laws told me I should consider doing the exchange because of potential rust/powder coat flaking. What do you guys think? I thought a little touch up was more than fine but my in laws got me a little worried. Thanks!

Touch up paint and be done.
Rocks are going to pop up off the road and the underside will get chips.
This item is intended to get scraped up and take a beating and the steel is a heavier gauge, it’s not going to disintegrate from a chip in the coating like the cheap nurf bars you see rusting apart on pickups made of paper thin metal.

I purchased the exact steps a year ago. Mine arrived in perfect condition only I scratched one during the installation.

You are correct The folks at IAG are great to deal with. They told me the type of touchup paint that matches perfectly and that they would send me Some if I needed it. I was able to find the stuff in the picture locally and it matches the powder coat perfect. Not the stuff that I had you referenced, but a perfect match just the same

I did clean the My chipped area, which was larger than yours with paint prep prior to painting to make sure no grease or dirt was not on the area.

It’s been 11 11 months and 25,000 miles and the repair is holding up great. I would say put a little paint on it and enjoy the steps. They definitely make it easier for my granddaughter and wife to get into the bronco

Paint it and don’t worry about it. You will get more scuff and scratches after your tires pelt it with stones. Better the boards than your door panels.

if you do some wheeling/rock crawling or encounter terrain obstacles (not just forest service road drives) take them off for the day. I didn’t and smushed my running board on a dirt/rock hump into my door frame. Kind of a sad moment but I’m okay now. They are easy to remove but just not convenient.

Probably not what you wanna hear since they were a gift, but I’ll just put it out there as a suggestion. Return the IAG steps and purchase bronco raptor, rock slider steps off of marketplace. You can get both the rock slider and the step for about the same price as the IAG steps, if not cheaper, I paid $450 and the bronco raptor steps look much better and are much easier to takeoff and put on.

Ouch that looks like it was a big hit. I’ve seen a few car accident deflections off these and the body took no damage.

That’s gnarly. Sorry it happened but thanks for the heads up haha
