The Bronco fuel "economy" is horrific. I can't even comprehend the money some people waste on fuel. I read one guy on Facebook with a Bronco is spending $180 a week for gas. I don't spend that in a month and a half.

Both of our cars get almost 40 mpg, I wouldn't even consider a Bronco as a daily driver.

I think my 1972 Chevelle SS 402 did better, back when gas was a buck a gallon.

I was very enthused and excited about the idea of buying a 2drBronco Badlands, v6. I haven't had a new vehicle since the 93 Toyota which I recently sold for $250 less than what I bought it for..... but my excitement has died down over time...what is killing it for me are a few issues I just can't get arround.......18mph and 20 hwy mpg for the V6..REALLY that's abysmal!!!! a manual tranny would help. Get the MPG up to 24-26 hwy might change my mind,,,but 20 mpg is terrible. Then for me there is this complete push by the US government to go to EV's, what's gonna happen to gas prices??? Is the Government gonna cause gas prices to go up to push... Ev's on the population as a whole...I have a feeling they will. So buying a gas guzzling vehicle which has a power train which is being phased out just doesn't seem like a smart way to drop $50K on a vehicle....I just can't do it....If for some reason I change my mind it will still be there for me to buy, but since I own vehicles for a long time, I just can't see dropping $50K on something which is trying to be phased out......

There is not enough electric producing infrastructure to go all EV's. Not going to happen because it CAN'T happen. It's all talk and bullshit. The ONLY way to go all EV is to dramatically expand nuclear, which based on tremendously misinformed public opinion is also not going to happen any time in the foreseeable future. I have driven Jeeps for over 25 years, so I think 18-20 mpg is great. It's all perspective. If you want a truck to pull your RV, mileage is a side issue or non-issue. If you want a full frame off road truck to go have fun with, mileage isn't an issue either.

Here's another way to look at mileage. This is true when thinking about boats. It isn't the overall mileage that is the issue, it's the DIFFERENCE in mileage between the choices we are considering. For example, a few years ago when I was buying another boat, choice was single or twin engines. When I figured the difference in fuel costs between the two, not the overall costs, the difference for any trip or weekend was insignificant in the overall cost and experience, so screw it, get the twins. Same here, so the Bronco gets 20 mpg, and you want 24 mpg. What's the cost difference in the miles you'll likely drive it for any trip or time period? Does that cost difference matter if you are able to have and do the things you want to do?

Quick calculation based on 1000 miles and $4 a gallon, difference between 20 mpg and 24 mpg is $33. Is that enough to decide to get or not get a vehicle?

I currently get around 16.4 in my Badsquatch with the 2.7, could be better, but I don't care, I don't commute and my daily driving is maybe 5 miles, if that. I'd never buy this thing as a commute vehicle, I'd have a hybrid or electric then, but I mostly just drive my girl and her friend to school and run errands. Longer trips get more expensive, but it's in the budget.

No use in worrying what "the government" (or anybody else) might or might not do, time's to short for "what if" IMO.

It is a great fun vehicle, if you buy it as that, you'll have a blast. If you have a long commute, get something more useful for that task.

This might not be the last vehicle I buy, but I'd be surprised if my next one isn't at least a hybrid, if not fully electric. Instant torque, no gas stations or big service ever is pretty attractive. Add instant torque and it makes for fun machines.

At the time of reservations I was driving a Focus which averaged mid 30s, my commute is about 5 miles so I saved a fortune on gas. Soon my commute will be 30 miles and in the Bronco. I might take the Zuk half the time, it does pretty good on gas.

Time will tell if one day will just swap in an EV engine like they do the coyote. I think it will happen where we can convert over

I think it's available on some cars already

2.3 auto here, and I rarely see 20. it's usually 22 city, and assuming I'm on a 55-65 highway, that little bugger gets 25ish on the highway. In traffic the other day, the freeway wasn't stop and go, but it was maple syrup in january and crawling along at about 35-40 for nearly 20 miles. it got 28.5 for that stretch, no bullshit.

Dropoff is pretty steep above 65-70 though, it's like it's shaped like a brick or something.

why do people feel the need to show their cowardly true self behind the confines and anonymity of a keyboard...to attack someone on a forum..so childish...forums are open for all sorts of discussion no reason to be assholes about it.

Flaming fingers. It's a good habit to reread what we type and make sure we would say the same thing face to face.

My wife just accepted a position 5 miles from home, so she'll probably be using the Bronco. Now she drives 1.5 hours a day to commute.

We drove our Samurai from Texas to PA, 1800 miles, I can't remember for sure, but I think we got about 30 mpg. That was flogging it.

That's the only way to drive them. It was getting about 25 hwy stock, idk what it's doing now with tcase gears and 31s, but a tankful gets a good 3-4 weeks of driving.

But honestly….what else would you buy? Wait for a new 4Runner? Wrangler? Wait two more years for a rivian?

I understand your concern, but there are 2 BIG factors that you must keep in mind:

1. The oil cartel is so powerful (GLOBALLY) that even with a strong government push for EV's, plus automobile manufacturers willing to switch over, it will STILL be at least a decade before we see a changeover. The money and the politics involved will do all they can to stop it or slow it down at the very least.

2. We won't have enough nationwide charging stations and infrastructure in place to support a drastic changeover.

The direction is clear, but it will be a SLOW grind.

EDIT: I can see a hybrid Bronco come to the market before an E-Bronco, even though the Mustang and F150 will be test beds for it.

My 2.3 auto has been getting 24 mpg no problem. But this will be my last gas only vehicle. I hope they come out with a hybrid bronco for the next gen. I'll gladly trade in.
Mine the same, running premium? That's what did it for me. Also, nice to get the extram 25 horses for cheap.
