I am getting a pretty loud whistle coming from the air vents when driving at highway speeds under any of the following conditions:

- recirculate air button engaged
- HVAC system on, but nothing selected within vent selection (i.e. defrost, main vents, feet vents all de-selected)
- HVAC system entirely turned off (fan, heat, a/c all off)

My first reaction is that there must be a dampener / vent in the engine bay that is intended to suck in fresh outside air, and whenever that closes (due to one of the conditions listed above), it starts to whistle when driving at highway speeds.

Anyone run into this issue?

Any ideas on how to resolve?

I have the same issue - regardless of speed. It's a faint whistle that I thought was coming from the rear somewhere, but then realized it happens at a standstill on higher fan speeds.

Don't know if it's related, but the vents under the seats for the rear don't put out ANY air at all. Will be addressing that with the dealer soon.

Hey there! I can look into your Bronco's whistle noise concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info?

I seem to have a similar issue, wherein the whistle is nails-on-a-chalkboard loud over 70mph with AC on. If I turn off power to the fans/HVAC, the sound is faint to gone. very strange and I'm sure near impossible to reproduce for my dealer to do anything about without a TSB 😕

Interesting...that seems like the same problem I'm facing but under the exact opposite circumstances...my whistle also occurs at highway speeds, but only if I either DO cut power to the HVAC or if I put recirculate on. My hunch is that both of those scenarios close the intake vents, which is what causes the whistle. Very interesting that your whistle occurs in the opposite scenario - if you turn power on. Maybe see what happens if you leave the A/C on bu toggle the recirculate button?

I am experiencing the same thing on a 2021 hardtop. It only happens with heat on (not AC) and the steady whistle sound starts around fan speed 3 and gets louder as the fan speed increases.

It sounds like it is coming from the back, but I have not been able to locate the source of the whistle.

I did not have this problem last winter. It is a new phenomenon this year.

Has anyone found a fix?

There is a TSB for a HVAC vent whistle issue. Not sure it’s the same concern you’re talking about though.

MY 2023 just started making this noise with the hvac system on. It is super annoying to say the least. Anyone have a fix for it?

I am having this same difficulty when the heat or ac is on. The model year is 21. Is there a fix for it? Should I send you my VIN and dealer. Thanks.
