How did Goodyear get this contract

Am I the only one who like the Goodyear?
After 9000 miles of all conditions of dry wet, snow, offroad, they have performed well in all conditions.
They are by far the lightest ATs on the market at 10lbs lighter per tire than a KO2 and 20lbs per tire lighter than a Toyo or Nitto. That’s a 100lbs saving in total vehicle weight.
The other day when road tripping I measured the Bronco weight at a truck station and I was 20lbs below the max GVWR. If I had heavy tires I would have been way higher than that, not to mention poor acceleration and mpg due to the high rotating weight.

I'm with you on this, I don't get all the hate for the Goodyears. I've done some moderate offroad trails with a mix of mud, dirt, sand, etc. and they have performed quite well.

I have no experience with these specific tires but there does seem to be a strong anti-goodyear bias on this forum for some unknown reason.

I'm not a Goodyear tire fan, don't have them on any of my other vehicles. But I have to say I'm pretty happy with my Sasquatch tires at 7k miles. Now I don't run them in the winter, I have dedicated studded snow tires for that. But the goodyears are wearing evenly and have plenty of traction in the rain.

i'm thinking that ford and 3M couldn't agree on how much to thin out the PPF for application onto the Sasquatchs in bulk.

That weight savings comes at a cost of durability. If your a moderate off roader you will see the reports of the lighter tires chunking apart on the trails/rocks. Thinner side walls, smaller lugs that are rock magnets, and a tire that isn’t true to size they are closer to a 33’s. While weight is important, function os the main reason behind heavier tires like Toyo,Nitto, being so popular. With my personal preference the KM3 and Gladiator MTs. They are tanks by comparison.

I have no problem with the Goodyears considering they need to be everything to everyone. For a vehicle that is on pavement way more than anywhere else, these tires are quiet and work great in dry and wet conditions. It would be pretty cool if a manufacturer offered Mickey Thompsons as an option though!

They might be 34.4 on paper but they aren’t that under load which is how most people talk about off road tires. A quick search shows they are normally 33.7 under load on multiple forums making them closer to 33.

Very few people measure a tire under load since that is too variable due to weight, rim width, PSI, etc. Everyone knows it is smaller once mounted and no one refers to a 33 inch tire as the true height on a vehicle.
