Anyone with leaking shocks during the warranty period have them denied due to aftermarket wheels and tires? My 285 tires weigh more than the 255 OEM Big Bend tires but the wheels weigh the same. Overall about 10 lbs more per tire.

I'm debating the time and effort of putting my OEM wheels and tires back on for the dealer service visit just to ensure it's covered by warranty.

2023 Big Bend, 30k miles, non Sasquatch. With all factory HOSS 1.0 suspension, not lifted. Not the recalled version. Passenger rear shock is dripping.

I would put the originals back on. They are looking for any reason to deny. Not even sure warranty covers shocks and struts.

Put the original wheels/tires back on for the service visit. You are still within your 3yr/36k factory warranty. If they don't replace them, consider it an opportunity to upgrade.

Thanks for the feedback. Heading in with the OEM wheels to eliminate that from being a concern.

I’m sure there’s no end to takeoffs for
Hitachis around here for dirt cheap. If you were local I have a set you could just have, along with a beer to drink while you load them, to get out of my garage.

My wife did get a shock replaced under warranty on her Bronco Sport, it had started leaking at 12k miles. So while it is a wear item, it can still be warrantied for defects

Dealer just called me. As it is leaking and not just worn, the dealer deems it a failure that is covered by warranty. So a new one will arrive in a few days, installed and paid for by Ford. I suppose I needed to rotate my tires anyway and get some use outta these bland Big Bend wheels. 🤣

Update: Fixed by dealer with no issues.
