I like your posts about lighting because it highlights the old generation vs the new generation of guys with all the electronics in todays vehicles. You younger guys seam to like all the modules, ecms ,bcms and all the other cms LOL. Us older guys like simplicity, most of us prefer that over modules controlling all most everything.
Vehicles driving mostly on highways have a safety valve when they break down on the highway, it's called a cell phone. Now lets change the situation to 20mi out in the mountains, at the bottom of a canyon and no cell or gps service, now you have problems, big ones.
I haven't ran to a situation like that yet but have come close a few times. To this threads topic. with the exception of the factory led headlights on my bronco all my other lights, fog, pod and driving lights are wired directly to the batt. and have dash mounted switches. If one set, lets say the fogs go out because of a bad relay and I really need to have them on, I could hot wire them directly to the batt, presto they are back on.
This post is not intended to criticize you or anyone else here but I will point a finger at the manufactures. They in my opinion are to blame for the computerization of todays cars. Take my bronco for example, I like led lights the white light really helps these old eyes of mine BUT is it really necessary to make a headlight with looks like a module inside it to turn on the high beams with a replacement price of $1600.00 Is that really necessary ???
