I'm about to get my MIC top wrapped in black. The guy suggested a "satin" type finish but I'm on the fence. For anyone who has done a wrap on their MIC top - did you do gloss, matte, or something else? Pictures of your setup would be appreciated.

P.S. I did run a bunch of searches but didn't come up with anything on this specific topic. Thanks in advance.

If you have the MIC top, it will be very difficult to get good adhesion. I know someone else on this forum wrapped his in white several years ago. Hopefully, he will see your post and respond with his experience. If you have the new painted tops, then I would choose gloss PPF, personally. To me, a matte or satin finish on the new painted tops will just make it end up looking like a MIC top...unless the rest of your bronco is getting a matte/satin treatment...in that case, match it.

Looks like @BudgetBronco did his himself (appears gloss) and @rainman23 had a shop do his (also looks gloss). Gents any thoughts? I'm back leaning towards gloss now.

If the MIC tops starts showing any of the flaws that get reported by owners then the matte or satin finish would better mask them versus the gloss.

It's like why house interiors are usually not gloss or semi gloss because every imperfection in the drywall would be highlighted.

Picked it up today - wrapped in Satin black. I love it - exactly what I was hoping for. I think the gloss would not look good - even with the satin you can see the honeycomb pattern, but it's not bad.

Also had him do matte black on the raised part of the hood for my own little Black Diamond appearance package.

I’ve wanted a satin black top since day one. My original plan was to PPF a painted roof - but, when everyone got switched to MIC I lost all hope that that would ever happen (and who knows when painted tops will be readily available and it’s over 4 years later).

I truly wonder how long this will last. What product did he use?

That looks good. I have a white bronco too an think it would look good with a smooth finish.

I passed a bronco on the highway that was white with gloss black top and grill it looked nice

I'm not sure honestly how long it will last but as two door owners we have few choices. I've seen people paint them and at least in pictures it looks good but I wasn't ready to commit a few thousand dollars without knowing whether they would be able to properly prep the top without ruining it, etc. And I'm super jealous of the 2025 folks who can get a fiberglass black top.

I'm most curious about how the top is when the PPF is removed. I've got blemishes on the back of my MIC just from the run-off water during window tint installation on the lift gate glass. I wonder if the PPF will leave a blemish on the MIC where it will forever need to be wrapped.

Yeah I don't know and honestly hope to not find out - hoping the wrap holds up. My top has some small cracks and some weird discoloration (looks like some chemical dripped on the MIC) that I didn't think much of until I tried every cleaner, adhesive remover, etc. under the sun and it will not come out. So no plans to go back to the gray.
