Fixing Slide Out Tailgate Threads

I recently purchased a used slide out tailgate and the front right threads (closest to the tailgate hinges) are cross threaded. What’s the best tool to fix this? Most thread chaser kits only go up to 12 mm and this is a 13mm bolt.

13mm is the bolt head size.
The thread size and pitch are not 13mm.
It is more than likely an M12 thread hole.
Guessing 1.75 pitch.

Good to know thanks, I have some calipers to measure the body of the bolt which should be able to show the size thread hole, right?

Yeah, more or less. It's kind of hard to measure thread pitch with one, but it can be done.

If I recall, the mounting bolts in the tailgate area were all m8 1.25, and very common for m8 to have a 13mm head, but if this bolt is on the drawer itself... hard to say. Ford loves to use those m8 bolts all over though.

If you have a bolt that fits, take it to Home Depot or most any hardware store and in the aisle with hardware they will have one of these things on the wall, use it to find the right thread size and then buy a tap for just that size for like $5
