Hello, just brought my BD in for the first oil change at my Ford dealer on Friday. Went to do some engine work and oil is all over the place. Underneath the hood all in the bay. It seems they may not have drained the original oil so I'm running twice the amount. Drove only for one day around town. Also seems like oil all around the crank shaft. Question is can I drive it and also do you think one day of driving has done engine damage? Would appreciate any advice as I'm panicking a bit. Thanks

If it were me, I would first confirm it is overfilled, then I would call the dealer and ask them what they would like you to do, drive it in or have them tow.

Not sure how the engine would react to twice as much oil. I have heard other engines only go a short while overfilled that much.

it could be something other than overfilled and needs to be investigated.

I started a car after an oil change once and forgot to put the 710 cap back on and oil exploded all over like that.

I’ve personally seen a tadano crane motor lock up from too much oil

Same here…

It’s like touching a hot stove, do it once and it’ll never happen again 🤣

Lol, I blew out about 1/2 a quart but it looked like it blew out all 5 qts. My heart dropped at first I thought something catastrophic happened.

I’d be afraid that it would hydrolock. To much fluid can actually bend connecting rods if it leaks past the rings into the upper cylinders and lock up the engine.

It's a 2.3 but yeah well past the full line that I see
I’d have it towed in then or at least let the dealer make the call. Too much oil can cause all kinds of problems that you don’t want to be responsible for. I definitely would not want to drive it. Where in upstate are you?

If it were me I would've already drained the oil out of it if I had any indication they overfilled it like you do and taken more pictures and video. Then placed a not so nice call to the dealer when they open. Do not drive it.
