Now if I can find the repair parts - the steps listed are Jeep that I can find. The actual slider itself barely got scratched.

Broken parts but no story? I have yet to knock paint off a rock slider. You’re on 38’s right?

Not a lot of story to it unfortunately -

Yes, on 38s.

Trails around here opened a few weeks ago, but there's still some snow up in the high country. I decided to take a trip up to Iron Lake (elv. ~8,500). Bass Lake region of Sierra National Forest

Normally, the trail is pretty mild (I'd give it a 3 or 4/10 on the OnX scale) until you get to the last 1/4 mile. Then it steps it up a good deal - probably a 7/10 for just that last little bit. Up until there, Subarus and anything with any type of AWD can make it up. Normally. And just hike the last little bit.

I guess we were the first crew to make it up this year. The last 5 miles or so still had a good bit of downed timber - some you could bypass, some we had to clear. That last 1/4 mile was pretty rough since it hasn't been packed down and still had some loose rocks and such on it. Fresh snow in the shade and plenty of mud. Made it down to the lake fine. Coming back out, the dirt was still loose, and coming up over the rocks we just slid over into an outcrop and it banged right on the step part of the slider - bent the steel step out and that pulled the rear arm that you still see in the pic out of it's pins.

Saw quite a few Marmots up playing in the snow by the lake, it was pretty. Had a gang of folks from Madera follow us up in SxS/4Wheelers that helped clear the downed timber on the trail so we could all make it up. My wife got some pics but she's holding them hostage, I'll see if I can get them from her to post later.

Repair parts weren't visible on the web site, but a call into the Sales at RSE and they hooked me right up.

I’m thinking about just buying a set of the cheap rough country ones. Wife needs something. A guy on here replaced the boards in his RC with his rock rails modified to work.

How much did that set you back?

Bought a set for Rock Slides for the wife's jeep, deeply regret not getting rough country or amp steps. The drop down bars on the Rock slide are always in the way and they are now so flimsy compared to the originals.

$300 for the new step and new arms

Yeah i kept knocking my shins on them for the first few months, and if you aren’t careful on an incline they can sway back

From what I have seen of them, I have not been impressed. Seems like aluminum foil would work just as good in the rocks :sneaky:
