I've been looking for a couple of years for a solution to keep the dogs in the back of my two-door that will allow them to stick their heads out but not jump or fall out. They're not jumpers, but never say never. I didn't want to use netting, and also wanted something I didn't have to unhook just to get them in and out of the truck... so essentially something that could attach to the tailgate. I had to cobble some items together but finally found a solution using the Havoc molle panel from Rough Country (ironically one of my Great Danes is named Havoc), the Heininger pet barrier, and some adjustable clamps. Note: I also have a "runner" cable in the back where I can tether them to a harness as well. The horizontal bars on the "pet barrier" are adjustable... I believe up to 48" and the vertical bars are adjustable as well. You can also buy another Heininger barrier or just one additional bar if you need more coverage. I can open the clamps and remove the barrier when I need to put the back window in; however, I think if I adjust the location of the clamps on the molle panel I might be able to leave this in place and just raise the horizontal bars up when I need them. I'm sure there are other options out there but this fits the bill for Havoc and Rogue as we tool around town!

I applaud your ingenuity Dog Mom!

Being a fellow dog person, I would also invest in dog harness mounts that would not let them try to pull past that fencing. You have some big strong babies there!

Thanks! I mentioned in my post that I already have a tether/harness setup. I've tested my "MacGyver" solution and it works like a charm, even when they're at their most excited and itching to get out of the Bronco!

Never thought I'd see someone transporting 2 horses in the back of a 2-door.

/btw -- I like your solution
LOL! Thankfully they love to cuddle up next to each other so they have just enough room after the rear seat delete. It is quite a sight, though... especially when they stick their heads out the top!

Let me know if you come up with a different solution. I'm also going to use the barriers for the side windows, but can use straps to connect them to the pillars. It's definitely a work in progress.

Feel better soon!

Post an update when you build your side solution.

LOL... someone recently put a duck on my door handle and I swear it's because all the dog slobber had my Bronco looking like it had a really cool, custom paint job!

The Duck is a Jeep owner thing, they leave ducks on each others vehicles or something. I haven't totally gotten to understand Ducking.

Oh yeah I know about "ducking"... only reason I could think of why someone would duck my Bronco is all the doggie slobber that looks like a custom paint/window tint job. LOL! I'm actually going to put an orca on my dash to start a new trend!
