Feedback on Sasquatch with SumoSprings - Compromises and Experiences?

I'm looking to better manage the rear end sag with heavier loads for family camping, etc. I was looking for feedback and experiences for those whose used them - especially if you have the sasquatch package. I'm curious about what compromises these require for flex and offroading, and the most closely related post I found was about 2years old: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/any-reviews-on-sumo-springs.57306/

The presence of the load that creates the sag is intermittent, when I'm unloaded (most of the time), its not there. I thought about OME shocks with their heavier springs, but considered this compromise of a harsh(er) ride most of the time (when unloaded) as a bit unsavory, but an alternative.

Seems like the product not having a call-out for whether you are standard, badlands, or sasquatch might indicate they aren't designed for the factory equipped higher ride heights, but hoping for real world experiences.

I didn't get very far with the live-chat folks at SuperSprings, who said there'd be too much of a gap due to the OEM lift of the sasquatch, and that they did not have any products for folks with Sasquatch. Not sure that seems accurate, as I think I've seen videos of folks equipping them. Hoping someone out there has first hand experience.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. The product descriptions for both the 1000 or 1500 pound versions on eTrailer state indicate neither size will work with the Sasquatch package while the customer rep response from eTrailer states that they will work. I contacted SuperSprings International today and chatted with one Andrew who said they are not compatible with the Sasquatch suspension. And yet I remain unconvinced...

My chat with them indicated there would be a gap between the top of the sumospring and the frame which would result in it working more like an active bump stop.

Thanks. I had looked at Old Man Emu with its variety of spring rates too. Those are putting something like +0.75” over Sasquatch. I see those Dobinson springs are a +2” over Sasquatch.

At least we’ve got options. But it’s a real trade off to go to a higher spring rate for daily driving to accommodate the heavy load from the couple of weekends a month heavier load.

Watching. Same boat and same conversations both with etrailer and the manufacturer. Conflicting info to say the least. I’m debating on just pulling the trigger and find out for myself as the price is not bad at all. I have a feeling that there will be a need to fabricate some sort of bracketry to make it work. Hopefully by the time I make up my mind maybe someone will come out with a drop-in solution that won’t compromise our rides too much. Wishful thinking!

What a coincidence! I've been trying the solve the exact same issues as the OP, and literally just left my local 4WP store. I asked the manager what suggestions he had, and he showed me SumoSprings on his computer. He then walked out and measured my Bronco's gap. I have 7 inches of gap.

According to Sumo's website, the blue sumosprings are 5 inches tall and they provide 2 x 1/2 inch spacers. That is about 6 inches.

I need to call them and ask whether or not the springs need to touch the frame when unloaded. Unless someone here knows the answer to that...

Either way, this seems like a very viable option for weekend warriors like myself! I just need to figure out how to get them to work with my non-SAS-converted-to-SAS Black Diamond.

I'll share anything I find here.

We use them on F150 and motorhome. It will slow sag once the Sumo makes contact. Both of our applications had the Sumo touching the frame but a little sag was still experienced since they are a rubber like material. At some point they will stop the sag as they compress.
The F150 Sumo had spacers that could create a little more space before contact if not installed. We chose to have a little gap for a normal ride unloaded. When we originally set them to touch when unloaded, it was a little too firm for the rough roads we live on out in the country.

OK, I just received my SumoSprings from e-Trailer and will be installing them this weekend. I only really need them to contact when my wife and dogs are in the back with the seats down and I have most of the weight in my trailer on the tongue to avoid rear tire rub (it's close at times) and prevent the nose of the Bronco from reaching for the sky. They come with two half inch nylon spacers per spring with an M8-1.25 x 45mm screw if installing one or both spacers. I ended up ordering a one inch rubber Timbren spacer (these are much larger diameter-wise than the spacers that come with the kit but still fit the perch) for each each side, some stainless M8-1.25 x 90 MM screws from Amazon, and some 8.2 mm ID nylon sleeves from Amazon to make the Timbren bits fit the M8 screws more snuggly (the ID is 1/2 inch with the accompanying metal sleeve.) I'm hoping the additional inch will make the SumoSprings more functional but am open to adding even more spacers, if necessary.

That’s great. I did a similar thing when I ordered my sumosprings. I ordered an extra set of their spacers, but I need to source the correct screws. I’m still worried that even with the extra spacer, they will be further than half an inch from the chassis, so I may look into additional spacers when the springs arrive. I will also update this thread for everyone to use.

Installed the SumoSprings this past weekend and they worked like a charm. Paired one inch Timbren rubber spacers along with the two half inch spacers on each side (total of extra two inches on each side.) The "spring" touches the frame when there is no load but it doesn't affect the ride; it does stiffen up a bit under load but not too harsh. I ended up pressing some 8.2 mm plastic/poly sleeves into the Timbren spacer and did the same with with spacers that came with the SumoSprings (effectively making a poly spacer sandwich on each side) to tighten up the slop for the M8 bolts.
