Feedback on Sasquatch with SumoSprings - Compromises and Experiences?

Excellent info and pictures. Thanks for sharing. I just ordered a set of Timbren spacers after I sa your post and will do the installation when the SumoSprings arrive next week. I went with the blue ones, but I like the idea of making contact with the chassis. The nice thing about stacking spacers is they can be easily removed until I get it dialed in.

Sure, no worries. I may replace the sandwiched spacers with another single Timbren spacer on each side at some point due to 1) it's a single piece, 2) it's made of rubber so there could be a possible NVH advantage, and 3) there's a greater surface area to distribute the load force under compression (the delivered spacers are strangely smaller in diameter than the actual "spring".)

Installed the SumoSprings this past weekend and they worked like a charm. Paired one inch Timbren rubber spacers along with the two half inch spacers on each side (total of extra two inches on each side.) The "spring" touches the frame when there is no load but it doesn't affect the ride; it does stiffen up a bit under load but not too harsh. I ended up pressing some 8.2 mm plastic/poly sleeves into the Timbren spacer and did the same with with spacers that came with the SumoSprings (effectively making a poly spacer sandwich on each side) to tighten up the slop for the M8 bolts.

Oh man this is great! This is exactly what I’ve been wondering but was too hesitant on pulling the trigger. What made you choose the black springs over the blue ones? Interested to see an update with pictures when you do have a load on. I see the etrailer box so I’m assuming you sourced everything through them. Would you mind sharing the links to the products? I chose black over blue because in addition to the trailer, I often have my wife and two 120 pound Presa Canarios riding in the back with the rear seats down on Deep Sleep air mattresses and figured the extra support would be a good idea.

I use the sumo spring coil spring inserts on my sasquatch. I use them on the front along with a 1 inch leveling kit for the extra weight from the winch and winch mount, but I sawp them to the rear when I tow a camper trailer. I used the CSS-1094 at the recommendation of another thread on here. It really helps with the handling. I consider it a temporary solution until I can afford full coilovers.

Thanks to the guys on here, I was able to install my Sumposprings plus 2 inches of Timbren's on each side. Unloaded, there is just about 1/2 inch gap. Fully loaded without water jugs filled up, the springs are compressed by about an inch. This is what is looks like now. I will fill up my Rotopaxes tomorrow and will take more pictures.

How does the suspension articulate with these in place? It appears that these greatly reduce suspension travel.

Can you add a connection for the gasket? I found one on Amazon, but I'm not sure it matches the one you purchased, thank you! By the way, are you SAS? Have any of y’all considered air bags instead? Just curious. They install basically the same as the sumo’s, but could severely limit articulation idk.

I'm not sure what you mean by "gasket." My Bronco is a 2022 Badlands with the Sasquatch suspension package. The SumoSprings can be a bit jarring over rough pavement when unloaded; considering removing one or both of the 1/2 inch spacers and/or switching to the 1000 pound (blue) version of the "spring."

Thanks for the great info. It looks like the OD of the spacers is about 4 mm too big. How did you press them into the spacers. I may not use the spacers as it looks like the will not work. The ID great, the Od is just too big. Any suggestions?

I'm looking to better manage the rear end sag with heavier loads for family camping, etc. I was looking for feedback and experiences for those whose used them - especially if you have the sasquatch package. I'm curious about what compromises these require for flex and offroading, and the most closely related post I found was about 2years old: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/any-reviews-on-sumo-springs.57306/

The presence of the load that creates the sag is intermittent, when I'm unloaded (most of the time), its not there. I thought about OME shocks with their heavier springs, but considered this compromise of a harsh(er) ride most of the time (when unloaded) as a bit unsavory, but an alternative.

Seems like the product not having a call-out for whether you are standard, badlands, or sasquatch might indicate they aren't designed for the factory equipped higher ride heights, but hoping for real world experiences.

I rounded the edges a bit on each piece to get started and then put a wood block on top and banged the smaller spacer into the larger bit with a sledge hammer.

Great. I may skip that step. I also changed the length to 70 mm. Seems the 90 mm were a little to long based on the thread depth using their bolt with the 2 x 1/2 in spacers they provide. Did you cut the 90 mm bolts?
