so I have looked for an engine break-in thread that I can apply to my new bronco 2.7 L, but I haven’t been able to find one. Does anyone have any recommendations or handy guidelines that would be useful?

I have the 2.3 in my 2025 2 door base and kept under 55 and varied my speeds for the first 1,000 miles, did no towing and basically didn't brake heavy unless some idiot driver did something stupid to make me lol! He runs real nice and smooth now so I'd follow that and you'll be happy.

I had to drive 80 miles to get mine, the dealer said they'd drive it down here for me, I told them I'd get a flatbed and have him trucked down here but they had some excuse that they had to be present etc., so they set it up that they would drive me up there in an Explorer that they were trading and I would drive the young salesman back down here in my Bronco. They told me they'd "be careful and go slow on back roads" if they were going to drive it back which I in no way believed, and driving up there in that new Explorer that I'm sure is someone's vehicle by now this young salesman gunned it just to see what it would do; I looked at him and reminded him of WHY I wanted to be the one driving my Bronco back home, he realized what I was getting at and slowed down. Unbelievable....

thank you, this is helpful, but I don’t care for the one sentence they have in there: “During this time, your vehicle may exhibit some unusual driving characteristics.” I wonder what they mean by unusual characteristics.

The 10R60 trans has an adaptive feature that can lead to some strange shiting while its learning. Im sure thats part of it.

I personally drove my 2.7l fairly reasonable for the first 1000 miles, changed the oil with a good synthetic, and sent it. Started with a FMIC and 93 Tune

I did/do a hybrid. I drive easy at varied RPM (not speed that is not engine dependent) for the first 500 miles. Change the oil and then over the next 500 miles progressively bring up RPM and harder shifts. Change that oil at 1500 miles. You are ready to roll!!

Break in: Dog it, hard. Never start from stop without flooring it. Peg it to max rpm every chance you get. Are the tires squealing? Great! You want it to scream, "Please! NOOO!!" Really get in there and mess with it's computerized head. Do this the first 5k miles.

Then give your friend his keys back and tell him it's all ready to go! 😁

I saw that too and I don't know what they mean. But I had no issues during the break in time and hopefully you won't either. And once I was around 1,200 miles or so I could actually "feel" a difference, I could tell it was smoother and more broken in so that's the way to go.

Oh, and also, the same dealer that drove me up to the other dealer 80 miles away to get my Bronco? An older service guy there told me "that's old school thinking" when I told him about breaking it in; I said , "yes, and it's also CORRECT thinking"....I was shocked that he would even say that but then again no not really...

Usually two trains of thought on this subject. 1. Drive it like you stole it. 2. Follow the owners manual.
#1, just don't abuse it. You will naturally vary the rpms and subject it to varying loads. Don't lug the engine if you have a manual.
