Howdy all,

I have a 22 OBX and want black fender flares. I ordered:

Total

Flare
$152.14

$152.14
M2DZ-16039-AA
Flare
$152.31

$152.31
M2DZ-1029038-AA
Wheel Opening Molding
$132.69

$132.69
M2DZ-1029039-AA
Wheel Opening Molding
$132.69

$132.69

the issue is these parts are all too short by a couple of inches (see images). Are OBX fenders a different shape? What am I doing wrong? Arrow to OBX fender flare, circles of ends for alignment/length reference. Cheers!

The part numbers are listed, and it seems like these are for a Bronco (not sport), but which? My flares have holes where these the black ones have pegs. This is so needlessly frustrating. Grr Ford!

My Outerbanks is a Sasquatch, I run standard painted flares in the summer. Direct swap no issues. It is easy to confuse them though.

Howdy AKBronc49, I think youā€˜re set as you’re trading one sasquatch set for another. I’m getting that sinking feeling that the Outer Banks (OBX) have a slightly different shape with the painted flares, and that I bought a set for Non-OBX models. I have no idea if there even is a set that would attach to OBX without being Sasquatch, which I’d hoped to avoid. Sheesh what a mess. I figured ā€œno way Ford would make multiple versions of these flaresā€œ and ignored that the OBX wasn’t listed under vehicle figment. I guess I’ll have a base/basic set for sale after I confirm I’m an idiot on Monday.
Cheers!

If the OB fenders were different, how would the SAS flares swap between the OB and other trims? Weird indeed.

The "pegs" are alignment pins with some tension on them. The "quarter turn knobs" are what actually holds them on. Just make sure the to compare original left front to new left front. Etc, etc... example ... the right front want be correct on left front, etc.. they look identical but the pins want align. Hope this helps.

I'm not swapping a Sasquatch set for another.

Summer: standard size painted obx flares I bought from a member with a non-sas Velocity Blue OBX to swap on to my Bronco.

Winter: my larger stock Sasquatch flares go back on to handle the snow/road grime.

They swap no problem, many forum members have done the same. My point was it is easy to confuse which one is which and like the other person said making sure all the tabs are switched the correct direction.

The first time I swapped it took a couple mins to figure out which flare went where and get them on.

Howdy AKBronc49,
Ahh- that’s curious. I’m perfectly willing to admit I can be an idiot making a fuss about nothing, but I still think I’m on to *something*. The pin/plug alignments are visibly different, and the overall length in flares is as well. I’ll take a tape measure to it today if the rain ever stops and try to show what I’m finding more clearly- and believe it or not, I’d love to be wrong about this. I’m currently working on the theory that there is some difference between these mounts, particularly as Ford lists fitment NOT including OBX. Could it be that the OBX and Sasquatch are compatible, and that the base flares are Sasquatch compatible too, but not base to OBX? It’s seems really unlikely and dumb, but that’s what’s seeming to be in front of me at the moment. Thanks for the additional info. More to come. Cheers!

Hey AKBronc49,
Can you please help shed some light on this for me? I’m really having a rough time getting straight answers on this. Did you order your Outer Banks with the Sasquatch package?

For anyone else- learn from my headache. The molded in color flares (the basic ones listed earlier in my post) do not fit OBX’s. The parts number system says they don’t fit OBX, and I didn’t believe it, but it’s true. The geometry of the guide pins etc. don’t align, and the length is slightly different.

Consequently, I have a set of base flares I can’t return, and therefore have for sale. Anyone want to profit from my struggle? Let’s chat.

What of Sasquatch flares? I don’t know. I’m reluctant to drop more $ to find out the hard way again. Does Ford make a molded in color flare set of any flavor that will fit OBX? Why would the painted flare models have different attachment layouts? I mean, this is really nutso stuff.

Thanks!

Happy to help, all round Bronco fenders accept all factory flares many other forum members have swapped flares the same as I have.

My Bronco is a Sasquatch Outerbanks from the factory as shown here at the Dock before I took delivery.

I then purchased a set of standard, painted Outerbanks flares from a forum member in Texas and installed them. It was slightly confusing seeing which flare fit where, but after a few mins I figured out which flares were front/back I got them installed.

I also had my factory Sasquatch wheels powder coated silver.

This fall when I put my snow tires/winter wheels on I switched back to my factory Sasquatch flares to have better coverage of the tires for winter.

So long as they are not everglades flares they will fit your Bronco, it may just take some time figuring out which ones go where.
