Hi All,

I had a dealer place an order for a 2024 Ford Bronco about a month ago. I received a build date and a VIN number about a week ago. A few days ago he asked me to sign a buyer's order agreement. It's very vague, it does lists the price we had agreed on, but it has no information about the vehicle other than being a 2024 Bronco, the VIN section is left empty. I haven't put a deposit down. I saw a few places online saying you shouldn't sign a buyers agreement until you do the final inspection of a vehicle? I'm told The Bronco factory can't do the build until the agreement is signed.

I'm just wanting to check this is the normal paperwork or not.

Normally you get a copy of the order, called a DORA, when you order it. It will show the model and options.
Now that you have a vin, you should be able to see the window sticker online.
Signing a buyers agreement is optional, but a good idea.

I wouldn't sign anything prior to the sale unless it has the VIN listed, an agreed on price (at this point most dealers are selling them for below MSRP), that you are eligible to receive any special finance rates or rebates available at the time of delivery, and that you're not legally bound to purchase in the event you do not like the vehicle when it arrives.

If you have a VIN and build date the factory is building the vehicle. The dealer is blowing smoke. They will be happy to sell you the vehicle when it arrives. No need to sign anything until it arrives.

If there is no VIN and no price then what exactly are you agreeing to do by signing??

As a special order agreement there will be no numbers on it-- since if I understand it correctly --this is the request for them to order and maybe they need to update their paperwork. Since you have the vin--you can just write it on the agreement prior to signing it. Your email and name is already attached to the particular vehicle through ford--your sticker will also be "green" as opposed to "Blue" annotating special order--as well as you will have a specific order number through ford.
It comes down to your relationship with the dealer-- I never filled out any paperwork nor put a deposit down when I ordered mine -- in actuality I didn't know exactly what I was paying out the door. Mostly because I was trading the crappy Goodyears that come on it for some ST Pro's and didn't know if there would be any manufacturers incentives when it arrived. I knew it would be less than MRSP and closer to invoice. Dealers are not looking to rook you but yes they need to make money on the sale.
