Do I need Advanced 4wd (4A)?

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is a rear locker and what will it do for me? I really wish they offered the 4A on either the base (without SAS) or the BB

So the rear locker (aka rear locking differential) allows you to lock the rear differential when you are on loose surfaces or when one of the rear wheels have completely lost contact with the ground. When locked, it causes both rear wheels to spin at the same speed.

By contrast, open differentials will not be able to put power to the ground without using some form of traction control strategy involving the use of the vehicle brakes.

You can get a rear locking differential in some Broncos without 4A, but you cannot get 4A without the rear locking differential. The one other thing that I appreciate more in the OBX trim than any other trim is the cloth seat material is nicer than the other trims in my opinion. The last thing that I would recommend is that you try to find a Bronco that you like on a dealer lot, because the recent price hike is ridiculous. Better to not have to pay for the impact of recent inflationary forces and let someone else take that hit.

There is some wrong information on this thread. Only way to get 4A is with the Sasquatch pkg or get a badlands which it comes standard on.

4A is available on a BD, non-sas.

I would get the non advanced. Your front driveshaft turns 100% of the time and never disengages with the advanced 4WD system. The non advanced is a real part time system, your front driveshaft will not turn when in 2WD, only your front half shafts. I have the advanced- it comes with Sasquatch and would have much preferred the non advanced.

I just wanna say this because I see other people saying different. But I have an OBX with 4wd and I keep it in 4A, never once has it switched to 2wd after turning it off etc. The only time it changes is when you switch GOAT modes.

No you don't need it. I haven't used 4A at all this winter in Minnesota. I don't have to drive all the time, but when I have, 2WD has been fine. The few times I was driving on snow-covered roads I just put it into full-time 4WD. Daily driving nah, unnecessary. The main benefit of the Advanced Tcase is it has the lowest low-range ratio, which is tremendously valuable on the manual sasquatch in off-road use.

I’m also in MN and wouldn’t use 4A more than a handful of days each year. If I lived in a mountainous area that received 300+ inches of annual snowfall, it would be a more important option.

I’m in Michigan and have used 4H just after a snow storm. I haven’t really needed it otherwise. I have a BB without 4A but I do have rear lockers. Haven’t needed them yet but I’m sure I will at some point.

i was watching dealer lots in Metro Detroit for a few months and calling dealers asking about A/Z plan. Some will support it, some will only sell with a large markup. Found I had the most success actually going to a dealership. Found that there was inventory that didn’t show on the dealers website that was offered to me when I was there. Found exactly what I wanted and then some. And they honored A/Z plan pricing.

No, you are incorrect. You can get it as a stand alone option if you selected it as a option on BD or OBX, on Base and BB its only available with SAS. Its standard on WT and BL. Everglades and the heritage models.
Have a 4 auto changes your vehicle type. Its called "Advanced" and classifies the bronco as a SUV. Not sure what that actually does for insurance premiums or whatnot but I know its different. Thats also why you dont see it as a line item on the build sheet as the notation of advanced in the name of the vehicle is were its added. I know this because my dealer didnt add the 4A on my BD order a while back and i had to cancel it.

Looking into getting a 2 dr Bronco (either base, BB or maybe OBX). My question is do I need the advanced 4wd on it for a daily driver? It looks like the only way to get 4A is either base sasquatch (impossible to find) or as an option to an OBX. I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as possible but was wondering if I need the advanced 4wd as I live in MI and we do get some snow where I live. I don't plan on doing much (if any) offroading. What do you think?

Also does anyone know if it's possible to snag a lower end 2dr with "A" Plan pricing? I"m in the metro Detroit area and I see quite a few of these on dealer lots but not sure if they would sell to me at "A" plan or not? Unfortunately I guess I missed my window or order but I think a lot of folks might be walking away from their orders?

Ya know, if I lived in a mountainous area, I would be having a lot of fun. And I don't think 4A would be that important there. Part-Time 4WD is more important if your road is going to always be slippery. Part-Time 4wd is perfect for snow-covered roads and parking lots. Sounds like we in Minnesota are going to get a bunch of snow tomorrow and I plan to go out snow wheeling before the plows get after it all.

Can anyone comment on the inside noise on the Bronco 2dr when driving around town? Is it pretty quiet inside with the hard top?
