I think they were just listening to their customers. A lot of people wanted a blend of a badlands and the Wildtrak. Wildtrak owners wished for the sway bar disconnect. With the 2025 Badlands you can still make yourself a Wildtrak with the Fox shocks option and the blackout package. Obviously the graphics are gone but that doesn't really mean much.

I did the same thing as you and got a discounted Wildtrak although you did better then I did. I wasn't looking for a specific color and glossy black top so I didn't have as much leverage.
