Sorry to hear that. My wife and I atteded the NH Offrodeo on Oct. 5th and loved it. We were in the second time slot, which was great, because there were only four vehicles in our group, versus the time slot before us which had a lot of people/vehicles.

That sucks! I was planning a NH, since I've never been to that area but now I'll just stick to Nevada, the cost of 3 days vacation for me will be about $1500, no way I am paying that to drive 3 miles, I took my dealer's demo for 20 already, while it was not a trail, but hell I am not paying $500 per mile to drive a Bronco.

Is there a trend yet of busy days vs non busy days? I’m going on a Wednesday. Hoping it’s a smaller group based on this thread

No. That wouldn't have helped. Although Moab is fantastic and I have off roaded there, the location had nothing to do with the problem. The terrain was legit and there was plenty of it and an impressively big trail network. The issue was not having the staff to keep everyone moving forward.
No. I also did it in Moab and despite just 1 guide per group we moved super fast.

The issue you got is the guide guiding people. Ours spotted us the first 2 obstacles then trusted us for the rest of the day.

Yep. I was there too. We had the white 2 door badlands.

sorry to hear you didnt have a good time. You’re the first to say something negative. I suspect at least a couple guides bailed because of the rain. He sure was working running back and forth.
Asking out of ignorance, but it doesn’t look that crazy from the angle of the video…couldn’t they have just driven more or less straight through the middle of this and made it?

I would offer to be a guide but I live in Hawaii. They should have done an offrodeo here. Could have charged more for it and it would be booked all the time since its just another package on your island adventure. Could have done it a Peahi. If you dont know its an old pineapple field road with trails, hills, and mud oh an a 60ft wave occasionally in the winter.

Yup you’re correct, just needed more guides. We had 2 guides for 4 Broncos when I went to Vegas it was fantastic

In our group at Moab, we had 4 guides for about 20 Broncos. We still managed to do ~50 miles total.

You may find this surprising but the course in NH is more technical full of loose rocks (and it was raining, slippery and muddy) that create many more opportunities to bottom out so the guides needed to guide. (and yes I have been off roading in Moab).

So I went with 3 friends to the NH Off-Rodeo on Friday 9/24. Unfortunately, the majority of the day was spent in a Bronco, not moving much... at... all. There were about 18 of us in the group. They divided us in half so we had about 9 Broncos in our group and one instructor who rode shotgun with one person and he got out of the car often to spot people over the technical parts. The trails were plenty interesting. But although our guide was doing what he could, we spent the majority of the day waiting for the cars in front of us to be guided over something, or waiting for the cars behind us to catch up. All in all, we maybe drove 3 miles, maybe 4 miles tops with only a few technical sections - but those were enough to bring us all to a standstill for long periods of time with only one guide. If I had to buy a plane ticket to attend this event, I would have been furious. I was surprised, given the positive reviews I had read. It seems that we should have had at least two guides, or three to keep the cars moving along from one section to another. The staff, food, facilities, and cars were all great. Not sure if some staff were out sick, or if this is just how they do it. I had fun but felt really bad for the people in the group that flew in for this.
Damn, the NH off rodeo was the one I was considering.

Sound like I just hit a bad day when they had a big staffing problem.

When I just did Moab, we only had 1 guide and he only got out of the vehicle for 1 obstacle.

Frankly I was a bit surprised...we had 7 Broncos, most had no off road experience what so ever, and the guide just jumped in the first rig and said follow me :) rarely stopped, full day of driving.

Ironically, I commented that I was bit disappointed because I had hoped for more guidance and teaching vs just follow and drive....bit now that you posted this, it never occurred to me that having constant spotters would have slowed everything down.

I guess it's a perfect example of "be careful what you wish for". I'm sort of glad now we were all just out doing our own thing in Moab.

Glad to hear the info. I am from the NE and live in Florida now. We were going to fly there but this was my concern. Having raced in Ultra 4 I’m all for taking time for people to learn but not as interested in spending that much time waiting to go over a “bump”. Maybe I’ll look at Texas or Moab. Afraid moab will really be frustrating not being able to take off and drive the trails for a day instead lol

My experiences in Moab were similar - you just follow the leader and stay in the black worn down slick rock and you’ll be okay. In NH it is full of loose rocks that shift and need to be carefully navigated. Very easy to damage the undercarriage or slide into a tree.

For an experienced wheeler most probably wouldnt have been to difficult. But that specific area was an exposed granite rock area with a set up of offset rocks that you had to maneuver over to try to keep from scraping the skid plates. As they said it was raining that day and as i learned while on this trail if granite is wet its a bit tricky to maneuver over as the tires dont grip wet granite easily. Im not sticking up for NH, but it is dependent on your skill level and what you want to get out of the day. Note i did NH and came away with some wheeling tips that i will find useful, i also remember making a mental note of the odometer when i entered the bronco i drove at the beginning and end and thought that we had done around 10 miles of trail driving the day i was there.
