Disable lock on tailgate

I installed a Diabolical Inc. Cargo box and you can still open the tailgate from the interior door lock. Is there wa way to disable the door lock button from unlocking the tailgate and making only the FOB able to lock and unlock the tailgate?

I am currently door-less so cannot test, but does that happen if the alarm is set? I thought with mine it would not open manually if the alarm was going off

The alarm goes off after the door is opened. I spoke to Allan at Diabolical, he said it is a DOT law that the tailgate has to open with door in case of an emergency. That the security is that with windows up it will stop the quick grab. It is most secure when door are off as then you cannot open the tailgate. I am pretty disappointed, as I believed the tailgate would be stay locked and why I spent so much on the locking cargo system. Why I'm wondering if there is not some heck around it.

I just want to clarify what is happening, since this is my first vehicle with a key fob and it was my impression that the door unlock buttons do not function without the key fob present.
Are you saying with the doors shut, windows down and doors locked. A person can reach in, press the unlock button and all 3/5 doors will unlock?
I was under the impression the tailgate will not unlock without the key fobs presence.

Edit: I tested mine with doors on, windows down, doors locked. With no nearby fob the door unlock button does not work, gives a chime and screen reads security mode.
With the doors off you will have no door unlock button, I suspect the tailgate will also remain locked.
