Old thread I know, but is there any advantage/disadvantage of running the driving on the A-pillars and combos in the bumper as opposed to what the above shows?

A Combo consists of both a DRIVING and a FLOOD.

I like a COMBO or SOPT for the a-pillars. Spot is honestly the most ideal but most folks do Combo to get the flood pattern and the driving.

Driving is a wider kind of spot basically. That's how I call it.

Down low you want WIDER. Up high you want something smaller to go downr ange. The higher up the lights, the further down range they should go.

That's why your lowest light is a wide/fog pattern and your top lights are spot.

Combos work well because of the dual lenses in 1 light.

I DO NOT recommend running wide/fog on a-pillars UNLESS you are aiming them off to the sides. If you are aiming them straight spot is ideal, combo being the most popular.

We have a complete kit here btw: https://www.4x4truckleds.com/diode-dynamics-stage-series-ss3-ditch-light-kit-for-2021-ford-bronco/

So my Combo to outside of my Fogs in the in the bumper and Driving on the A-Pillars should work then. I have not installed the Fog/Combo that I received from you in the bumper yet (this weeks project), and looking at the chart I was wondering if I should switch the Combo's to the A-Pillar and Driving to the bumper.

well keep in mind you cannot using driving as a fog light - it can’t be used on public roads unless it’s a replacement to your headlights or being used as a high beam light - it’ll blind people on the road

depends on what your intended use with them is

I have SS3 sport amber driving up on the pillars, they work very well up high and don’t light up the hood as much as a combo would. I have SS3 pro amber fog, SS2 pro clear driving, and SS2 pro clear floor in the bumper. The clear flood aren’t useful for me, so I purchased clear fog lenses that I need to swap out.

I would run the driving up high and combo low.

No, the Fogs will be on the factory Fog switch (which comes on when I turn the wheel). The Combo's and Driving lights will be switched and used off-road.

My setup:
Outboard bumper = MAX Combos (aux switch 2)
Inboard bumper = MAX SAE Fog (factory fog switch, Forscan turn programed)
A-Pillar = MAX Driving (aux switch 3)

I'm leaving switch 1 open for when/if someone comes up with a decent thin bar setup for the top of a capable bumper.

That was my original intention but DD's chart showed the Combo's high and the Driving low and just wondered if that was advantageous. I can see where the Combo's would throw more side (ditch) lighting being up high but should help as side lights down low as well as the combo focusing below my high beam headlights. Focusing the A-Pillar Driving lights above my high beam headlight cutoff should help on the trails.

Yeah, that is nice that DD has replacement lenses in case I want to switch the driving to spot.
