Did I order something unique to cause delay?

I'm reading where OB orders made after mine (12/26/23) are receiving their build dates now. I'm curious if I ordered something that could cause a delay from me being assigned a build date window? I received the 45 day reconfirmation of my order email, saying they're still working on scheduling and will be back to me in another 45 days... Huh?

Mine is a 2024, O/Banks, 4-door, non-sas, lux, dual top, tow package, steel bumper with brush guard, 4.27 rear end for the locker. Basically everything except the Sasquatch package. Color is eruption green.

Do any of you far more experienced folks see anything in there that could cause it to be delayed?

I spoke to my dealer last week, and they saw only 5 waiting for vin's in their own order banks. Said that was a good sign as it's usually been 5x's that number, but not sure if that speaks more to slower sales than faster manufacturing?

Thanks!!

Biggest constraint is dealer allocation. You are only in line at your dealer and their respective orders. Do not be distracted by others receiving build dates at other dealerships.

Real simple example: If your dealer only has allocation for 1 Bronco/month, then other less constrained orders at that dealer will leapfrog your order. Ford will consider order date, but it won't take priority.

Thanks guys! Is there a way to tell what the dealership's allocation amount actually is? I'm in the DC suburbs, a major market, but a relatively small dealership when compared to others around us.

I don't think any dealership would tell me the truth if they're only allocated 1/month and I'm #5 on that list. I would just pull the order from the little guy and go with the mega-dealer on the other side of town, which isn't want I really want to do. But.....

Allocation numbers are not public information. Some dealers are willing to tell you, most are not. Honestly most salespeople at the dealership probably can't tell you the allocation numbers even if they wanted, typically it's something only the sales managers and owners have insight into.

The allocation formula is setup so that the amount of vehicles a dealer gets a month is roughly proportional to past sales performance. Generally speaking, a dealership that sold a ton of Broncos in the past will get a large number of Bronco allocations. BUT, that same dealership that sold a ton of Broncos in the past also likely have substantially more outstanding order holders still waiting for their Bronco. So in the grand scheme of things it usually evens out in the end. (But there are edge cases where it does not.)

I don't think that is the case for MY24, with Lux and High combined, every trim getting 12" screens and tow package getting pushed to dealer installed. I could be wrong, but I think allocation is the big unknown right now.

I went for what in the past was the mother of all constraints, OBX/Lux/Sas/Tow/Mod Bumper/Rack/Aux switches. Ordered 10/02 from a medium-sized dealer. Received notice on 2/1 of a built week of 3/18. Someone else on the board has a similar build at the same dealer with the same build week.

I only used the 1/month as a simple example. The point I was making was to not associate your build with others at different dealerships. Others getting scheduled ahead of you has no bearing on your order's priority at your dealer.

Now, you can ask your dealer if they could adjust your priority code noted at the top of your DORA. Most don't manipulate the PC and just have a system assigned PC for all retail orders. This way all orders are on a "level playing field". Problem with that is the 4-dr Big Bend Softies will keep leapfrogging your order while satisfying the dealer's allocation.

I had most of the items that were once thought to be a constraint on my order and I got my Bronco 3 months from my order date.

I agree with othered here, delays these days seem to be dealer allocation bottlenecks.

Basically all the add ons. I was told any add on expect a delay and the more add ons the more the delay.

I don't think a lot of OBX have been scheduled this year, number of unscheduled orders keeps rising. In the same situation -order confirmed 12/6 OBX, 2.7, SAS, MIC, LUX, ModularBumper, AUX. I do think mine is dealer allocation issue though.

I ordered on 12/17/23, all the same items, dual tops, lux page, azure triple paint, SAS pkg, Aux switches, roof rack, black and roast interior and after 45 days received a build date of 3/18/24. According to my salesman he had 25 allocations to fill and I was number 18. Large dealership with plenty of allocations is the way to go.

My opinion . ( disclaimer) The allotment nonsense is dead except for special editions, Heritage Limited , Raptor. What I have noticed is specific Bronco models come in waves. Recently, WildTraks seem to be the flavor showing up at the dealers. My local dealer has 18 Broncos on the lot, this includes three Raptors and one Heritage standard edition. To me this has more to do with any delays then what we all went through two years ago. Good luck.

Thanks all! Do you see any allocation issues with a dealership that says they're only seeing 5 orders of theirs waiting for a vin? Does that sound like a dealership with an allocation allotment issue, or does that sound like manufacturing is running faster now. They did say they would hope to see a vin issued for mine in the next month or two. I thought that sounded like a long time for just 5 orders waiting for a vin from a dealership, but perhaps I misread this? I am way way way down on the learning curve with this process, never ordered a car in my life before.

Thanks!!

I am thinking perhaps I should just buy one of the 2023's still on the lot and forfeit a couple of the options I ordered initially and add them after the fact. I am seeing build week's now for April 15th here, a full 6 weeks away from now, and have heard nothing.

I am curious - what does a soft top cost in general to buy from Ford? The dual top is something that I really want to have. I also want the steel modular bumper, but suspect I could find an aftermarket close enough. I don't like the bestow aftermarket soft top though, I would much prefer the OE from Ford (I want to take the window out of the back, lower the door windows, leave the top on). If we're talking like $2k for a soft top and relatively easy to get, then it would make sense and likely save me a few grand in the process to just buy one already on the lot?

Talked to my dealer yesterday to check on my order I placed in Nov. - confirmed in Dec. He said he had +50 orders still in the queue to be scheduled so I don’t think I placed my order with a dealer that has a lot of allocations. He did say that Ford is offering discounts to people placing orders with soft tops because there are constraints on hard tops. I couldn’t find anything on the internet about it. I was too bummed about my order so I didn’t think about asking what the discount was.
