Are the parking lights 12v? If so you could use a couple relays maybe: one normally open tapped into parking lights and the other normally off with the fog input. Should only trigger when parking lights are on and fog lights are not (high beam situation hopefully?) you could run a new feed to your fogs with whatever trigger you wanted (aux, parking lights, etc). At least that sounds possible in my dumb brain.

Yes, and that's more or less what they are doing in the other post referenced.

Ahhhh, gotcha. warned you all that my brain was dumb. Haha
No worries. It is clever - it has the effect of "normal fogs" and "Hi beam fogs" that will switch back and forth with your high beams.

You could do some relay/switchery magic to make it do all kinds of things. But they would require some explanation to someone else driving your Bronco - the factory Fog switch wouldn't have the original intended behavior any longer.

You guys have some great ideas. But Brian you are right, it would require some explanation for others driving. In my case my wife regularly drives it and wants it as OEM as possible. So ideally fog button works the fogs, and auto high beams does everything else. That’s where the XBB Canbus reader comes into play

If someone could post the headlight schematic I think we could figure out a solution that doesn't change factory function and/or also accommodate Bambi mode.

So I received the XBB Power Unit and Dongle last week, I plugged in the dongle, and tried all the current Ford models they offered, that included LED headlights. Good news, they all worked. Let me back up a bit, once plugged in, you download the XBB App for your phone and connect via bluetooth to the dongle. You select the recipe through your phone and load it into the dongle. Then on your phone you can view, the points the dongle is monitoring live, and see the changes.

The F-150 recipe only had Highbeam, Lowbeam, Ignition and Reverse light. Nowthe guy that created the product is willing to make changes as needed, so I could request turn signals, steering angles, the options are basically endless.

I haven't gotten further than this, I'm still planning on how I am going to wire this and where to put the relay. Since the relay is bluetooth, it will always be on if it has power.

I am trying to find an ignition triggered power source, that is in the engine bay, but so far haven't found one. So I think I will route this through the aux switches and just leave Aux6 (10Amp) on, this will trigger the bluetooth relay.

Fuse F22 - cameras is what I have used. It's on with ACC power - so not strictly ignition controlled. Fuel Pump (F4) or Coils (F9) might be a good options to try if you are looking for strictly when the engine is operating - although the coils option might have some electronic noise in the power that may play havoc with the electronics in the XBB.

XBB is an interesting device - especially if they are willing to add programming for other CAN data points!

Thank you for the suggestion, my second item, Id love to be able to trigger these with zone lighting. Not sure if I will be able to manage that though

I’m sure I’m over my head here, but why not tap into the delayed accessory of the BCM? It’s in the driver footwell but easy enough to tap into.

Pg.21 of this document:

Wow, I've never seen this before. I'm going to take a look at this control panel once Im finished work. The delayed accessory contact might be exactly what Im looking for, the bigger benefit is that the relays could stay within the cabin...protected from moisture!

Others have tried to purchase the factory part number listed to tap into that location, and found it still didn’t work well. I just used a standard female insulated spade connector, heated it a little, and forced it down in. You need to be aware of having the spade orientated correctly so it makes best alignment with the male spade in the panel, but mine is in there very well. I did take the plug cover off as noted in those pg.21 instructions and the red face of the plug, but it went well for me. Just make sure it’s orientated correctly and shoved all the way in and you should be good.
