Throwing my 2 cents in since I just came over from the jeep family, including a ‘24 Rubicon X 4XE I had for about 4 months.

I like virtually everything about the bronco better with a few exceptions:
1) I really liked the jeep interior materials in my ‘24. All the paneling and leather seemed much higher quality than what I was used to.
2) The Sky One-Touch power top almost kept me from switching single handedly - I miss that thing every day.
3) wet traction aside (which is a huge aside) I loved my K02s on the Jeep.

I’d say I loved the hybrid drivetrain but mine must have been a lemon. It was horrible when not on full electric - handoff to ICE was bad, mileage was atrocious when on gas (thanks 400lbs of batteries), and I felt like the transmission hated its life.

I guess you got a lemon. It happens. My 21 4xe has been totally flawless. Tranny is smooth. About the only complaint i have is the turbo 4 is pretty loud when it does kick on. That being said the turbo 6 in the bronco is always loud, you just get used to it.

Having owned several Jeeps for long periods of time. I had one JK that was bought new and the biggest POS ever and a used JK that went well beyond 225k and I would have trusted that little thing to hold up just fine. My Bronco, in the two years I have owned it, has been "OK." It never left me stranded but it sure has had some very annoying and odd issues.

Since other have, I will add my opinion to the mix.

07 JK and 21 Bronco:

+ Better interior materials - The Bronco interior materials are, at best, on par with the JK
+ Better laid out controls - split - the Bronco has more screen interfaces, which is fine, when it works - The JK was simple and intuitive and basic
+ Better reliability in 2 years - split - the Bronco has never left me stranded but it does have odd and annoying issues - The JK only left me on the side of the road once requiring a tow when I blew a tire and my tie iron literally bent trying to remove the lugs this was over a decade
+ Rear AC Vents! - neither had them, but would be great to have!
+ Better stock tires - I have/had A/T's on both and they are both just fine - the less interference from the traction control was better on the JK IMHO
+ hard top is better quality - who buys a stupid hard top? What a pain for either car (and yes the white top looks cool depending on the model Bronco)
+ Framed doors don't rattle like hell every time you open them - JK wins this round, framed doors are preferred, wind noise is ok, but Ford can't get the door open/auto window control right
+ Soft top fits better and does not have wave windows - I don't care about the "wavy" windows, but this is another spilt - both are easy to put down and up and generally quiet
+ Quieter interior - JK wins this one - the Bronco has odd creaks and moans and nosier engine and more road/wind noise (A/T tires nothing nobby)
Lol, you are comparing a 15 year old JK to your Bronco, and it actually wins on a lot of counts.

You obviously have a bias (simply based on statement A). Do you think there might be any other reasons "they consistently rate them terribly" other than "hate"?

A) Consumer Reports hates Jeep. They consistently rate them terribly.

B) The Rubicon has been better built and higher quality by far. Here is my Pro/Con Sheet

22 Bronco
+ Bigger and Roomier
+ Better steering
+ Larger Infotainment screen
+ 35s stock!
+ 360 camera
+ Much larger cargo access door

21 Rubicon 4xe
+ Better interior materials
+ Better laid out controls
+ Better reliability in 2 years
+ Rear AC Vents!
+ Better stock tires
+ hard top is better quality
+ Framed doors don't rattle like hell every time you open them
+ Soft top fits better and does not have wave windows
+ Quieter interior

Not at all, it actually sounds like you are trying to justify your mistake! lol

-The location of the accessories look like they were added after the fact in a Jeep. Locker switch is in a bad spot, same with aux switches and lets not forget about that tiny screen, only to be widened to no real improvement in the latest redesign. (which also looks stuck on ) The only complaint might be the side panels, but I wouldn't want anything plush. The seats are worlds better in the Bronco and so much more comfortable.

-No response necessary, test them, you will find out quick enough, especially in snow and ice!

-Jeep/AMC/Chrysler/Fiat/Stellantis have NEVER been known for reliability and still aren't.

-Your "Black" hardtop is heavy and has an ugly white interior that will always look dirty and is hard to clean. I prefer the darker interior, but not that much difference, just my preference.

-My Bronco's doors function as they should, sure they rattle a bit when partly down, just like all frameless doors through history. (Framed doors historically are kind of entry level.) I like the final products look and function much more than the archaic doors on the Jeep. Personal preference I suppose.

-I'd check with Jeep, your 4XE most likely has or will have a recall!
With a name like Hemi-sphere I detect more bias than you admit!

And I’m not aware of any recalls. It’s been to the shop 3x, each for a complimentary oil change. They do check for and install computer updates as part of that, but that’s it that I am aware of.

Yes, if you read the report they consistently rate them lower because of they aren’t as highway friendly as others. They will compare a wrangler to a Honda Pilot and say the pilot is better for the average consumer(which is totally true).

I really enjoy my bronco, but hate that I’ve already had three warranty issues. All electrical. I just wonder what issues it will have ten years.

From what I’ve read, most bronco owners have had little to no issues so maybe im the exception. I still can’t trust that it will last so I am on a list to get the new gen four runner.

I like both vehicles and I’m not sure how consumer reports figures their stats out. There are a kazillion JLs on the road vs the far smaller number of Broncos out there. Wouldn’t the number of issues be skewed to show Jeep is worse based on number of vehicles sold?
Or does consumer reports take all that into account?

And, if wranglers really sucked that bad…would there be a kazillion of them sold and driving around the roads just fine? 🤔
Not skewed when honest reporting is done. Most reporting uses a statistical mean if I remember my long distant stat classes. The only advantage or possible disadvantage in larger numbers is accuracy. 30% incident rate of 40,000 vehicles vs 30% incident rate of 100,000 are, in an overly simplistic way, the same. 3 of 10 are bad. Totally made up numbers. All of this heavily depends on the reporting wildcard. If dealerships and corporate are reporting honest numbers or not. It's not like auto manufacturers aren't above fudging numbers.
Auto forums have been complaint magnets since BBSs were a thing. Which is good and bad.. Good because information is important. Bad because information is too often not vetted. Just do the research.

I once took a Jeep Gladiator out for a test drive. I was shocked how poor quality the ride was. Bronco is substantially better than Jeep as far as build quality goes. But it seems that Consumer Reports only rates Bronco slightly higher than Wrangler/Gladiator.

There are more reliable 4wd vehicles than a JL or Bronco….. But the doors and tops don’t come off. So…. For what we wanted, they aren’t in the same category.
I actually am surprised how much we both like the ‘22 Gladiator we bought 2 months ago to use while waiting for our Bronco. But it has already lit a check engine light. It rides smoother than our 4wd Excursion, but wears me out on a long trip on the interstate.

Yeah, let's go ask the minivan guys' opinion on our off-road washing machines! That'll be the definitive prove that my opinion is superior--naturally and without scientific research! For I am a dog among men!

...wait, that last part can't be right.

Like comparing two piles of poop to see which is better…they’re both poop in comparison to other vehicles for build quality, value and reliability.

CR is an advertisement and nothing more. They give good ratings to those that pay the most.
