Hello! I have been saving for a CAI (cold air intake) and was wondering what the current “best” in class one is that will improve air flow, mpg, and performance.

I have read about roush, Injen, K&E, and others.

I was wondering what current owners of any of these CAIs would recommend as I’d like this to be my next modification.

What brand would you recommend then?
There isn’t one that I’d personally suggest. OEM is good enough for my purposes.

However, Im sure there are a few builds/threads to search for that might touch on what they installed and their experiences

I would’ve kept OEM but as I live in a very hot humid state (Florida) having the intake will really help with my engine’s health. I’ve been through all of the threads but most are outdated, mention discontinued/ old products, or are not informative enough.

If anyone else has any recommendations I would really appreciate it. I feel like injen might be the way to go as of right now though.

Factory. Do you think Ford left MPGs and HP on the table by not simply optimizing the intake?

IMO they aren't worth it. Especially when the air is going to go through the turbo and then intercooler...

Most "Cold air" intakes are actually hot air intakes anyways.

Honest question then. Is everyone who dyno tested these lying? Because most show a HP gain .

If you increase air flow your ECU will increase fuel flow. You will not increase MPG with a CIA.

Don't waste your money, which it sounds like is pretty tight.

CAIs are pointless in today's world. OEMs are not leaving much, if any room on the table. They have to consider filtration, noise, air flow, velocity, pressure, temperature, etc, etc, etc.

Most CAIs fail at at least one of those.

They usually add 5 or 6hp. You will not notice the difference. The engine may sound different. The CIAs in past Mustangs made them sound carbureted. Best practice is to add a CIA with or after a tune, because the most effective CIAs require a tune.
