Since you didn't mention anything really "off road" in your interests, I suggest the F150 or have you looked at the Ranger Raptor?
FSR exploration is about as much as I’ll be doing.

Ranger Raptor is a sweet overall build for the money at around $60K (similar cash to most Broncos and probably a bit cheaper than a lot of F150s). Would tow better than the Bronco, give you a decent sized bed for utility and probably have way more personality than most F150s.

Personally I think full size trucks are too big and expensive these days and the size would bother me (and this is coming from someone who had a 2004 Silverado LT for 110K miles).

Neither. Nor a Ranger Raptor. For what you're looking to do, save the cash and get a Ranger XLT. Tows decent enough for a travel trailer, roim for the bikes, back bench for the dogs. Then you can put the money you save towards the trailer, better biking equipment, etc, etc.

That was my first truck. 4x4 Xtra cab, 5-speed manual, forest green. Bought it in Virginia and drove it to Anchorage, AK for college. Great truck. Later replaced with a 2000 Tacoma in same configuration. Even better truck.
Yeah, I bought it at 125k and sold it somewhere around 195k, the speedo stopped working and I never fixed it, ha. I knew basically my speed by the RPM's. 5 Speed Manual, locking hubs, mine was red, single cab. Loved it........I'm very tempted to go back to one, but.......I do love the Bronco it's allowed me to make a 2 door work (I had Jeeps before), and the 7MT and seats in it are great. I could foresee driving the Bronco until it has 150k or so and then getting a truck and having both.

I went from an F150 to the Bronco. Two different types of vehicles that don't compare very well, but I get it. By every practical metric, it's not even close, F-150 (or nearly any full size pick up) wins hands down. It'll haul and tow everything you need. It's more spacious(in super crew espescially), more comfortable, quieter, and quicker. Properly equipped, it'll also take you most places you want to go off-road, though the extra width and bulk can be limiting. BUT, it's just a bit dull, with a low fun factor. Top doesn't come off, doors don't come off, and just not quite as "cool" as a Bronco.

You NEED an F-150, but you WANT a Bronco.

Just piling on to what seems to be the prevailing thought here. We used to have a 2010 F150 Lariat that my son drove. Great looking vehicle, great for towing and carrying large loads.

However, it was a money pit and the extended warranty I purchased for it paid for itself many times over, but that's beside the point.

When my son got rid of it, we didn't really have a vehicle that was good for hauling. We had a BMW X5 that was my late wife's DD, but it had no hitch and really couldn't tow much even if it did. It would've been just good to haul bikes on a hitch carrier.

For me, the Bronco works. I have hauled firewood with it, and it has enough capacity for 90%-95% of what I'll need. Plus, I just love the Bronco, it just has more character than an F150.

Having said that, as others have said, based on what are your stated needs, the F150 is the more practical solution. However, A Ranger Raptor may be a good compromise.

Hi all,

I’ve been following this forum for quite some time and am always jazzed to see your adventures, builds, projects, etc.

the bronco to me is a blank canvas.

I’ve stuck on the fence between a bronco and F150 and would like to hear from those who have either made the switch from F150 to bronco or were also on the fence and went this way.

a few things that impact this choice.

-30mi/50km commute per day
-Avid mountain biker. Often need to carry 4-5 bikes ideally. Current vehicle doesn’t allow.
-snowmobile is in my future, plus a small travel trailer of all things go well, so towing is on the table.
-bringing my pup with me 3-4 days a week everywhere I go
-love to turn up the music

-My main goal is to be able to get further away from the city and find some quiet.

I’ve had a few multiple F150s in the past and have no bad experiences. Quiet, powerful, comfortable.

Logically an F150 could be more fuel efficient, a more comfortable commuter, more capable towing vehicle, and generally more of a Swiss Army knife.

nonetheless, I’m still drawn to a bronco.

let’s hear the thoughts.
For your needs, the F150 for sure!

No intent of trolling here. Simply seeking feedback from members who have experience with both. You are correct that I joined yesterday. Long time reader but had no recent to have an account before.

Never get rid of hobbies... Multiple hobby syndrome is where it's at.

Have both. As noted by others, for your needs, the F-150. I use the F-150 (4x4) as my daily commuter. 2018, she's been solid. Wifey-pooh drives the BRaptor (mostly).

We had this same thread 6 or 9 months ago, same answer. His heart wants a bronco, and for the little bit of hauling he might need to do, get a trailer. Y’all act like the bronco can’t pull a trailer. How often do you really need the bed of the truck? Most day to day stuff fits in the back with the seats down. Follow your heart. (That’s why he’s asking it here and not the f150 forum.)

My solution was to get both...

The F-150 is more fuel efficient, better at towing, and generally better all around.

It's definitely less fun than the Bronco. I still take the Bronco on long road trips despite the fuel efficiency difference.

Now, I can hear you saying that you can't afford both, but I bet if you got a used 2021 2-door 2.7 Bronco and a used 2023 F-150 5.0 STX. You probably could afford both.

They have different purposes and are very different vehicles... Having both means that I can have an impractical 2 door Bronco with the rear seats deleted. My F-150 is the all purpose hauler and has amazing room for multiple people on a long road trip.

I currently own both, for your stated purposes I'd say the F150 wins hands down.
Same here. I own a Raptor and a 2 dr bronco. I would never use my Bronco to carry that many bikes. Raptor aka F-150 hands down as well.

You need a truck. Ranger Raptor, perhaps? It's like the Bronco and the F-150 had a child.
I'm leaning F-150 Tremor.
