Hi all,

I’ve been following this forum for quite some time and am always jazzed to see your adventures, builds, projects, etc.

the bronco to me is a blank canvas.

I’ve stuck on the fence between a bronco and F150 and would like to hear from those who have either made the switch from F150 to bronco or were also on the fence and went this way.

a few things that impact this choice.

-30mi/50km commute per day
-Avid mountain biker. Often need to carry 4-5 bikes ideally. Current vehicle doesn’t allow.
-snowmobile is in my future, plus a small travel trailer of all things go well, so towing is on the table.
-bringing my pup with me 3-4 days a week everywhere I go
-love to turn up the music

-My main goal is to be able to get further away from the city and find some quiet.

I’ve had a few multiple F150s in the past and have no bad experiences. Quiet, powerful, comfortable.

Logically an F150 could be more fuel efficient, a more comfortable commuter, more capable towing vehicle, and generally more of a Swiss Army knife.

nonetheless, I’m still drawn to a bronco.

let’s hear the thoughts.

I'm also an avid mountain biker. I can't imagine using a Bronco to carry more than 4 bikes, my hitch mounted rack only fits 2.

There's nothing like piling a bunch of bikes in the back of a truck. We've put way more than 4 bikes in trucks for shuttle runs. You won't be able to do that in a Bronco unless you also use the roof. But a Sasquatch Bronco is so tall that the roof is not a viable option for me.

That being said, the Bronco is the best vehicle I've ever owned and now I'd rather let my friends do the bike hauling.

Yeah MTB'er here too, but.......I don't have friends, ha or a wife that rides, so I'm only carrying 1 with a 1-up. I will say I've debated going to a truck again (last one I was in grad school, '93 Toyota 22R-E) because I camp, bike, and surf/kiteboard so it's really easy to throw stuff in the back.

The main reason, well 2 main reasons I haven't:

1. I live at the beach so taking the top off most of the summer still works out well.
2. Manual transmission - and in the Bronco, unlike the Jeep (JL) it's done really well so far.

I think this is a heart vs. brain debate. If I lived in BC I'd definitely want to off-road more and mtb, so.......I'd still lean towards the Bronco.

I'll add that I removed the back seats right away and have a Maverick truck bed mat in the back so.....I basically have a large empty space for storage which works for camping, kiteboards, all of that. The upside there is the stuff stays dry bc I typically throw the hard top back on for longer trips. The washout interior/MGV is a huge plus too, I couldn't imagine cloth seats in anything I drive. The seats really are a huge upgrade.

I currently own both, for your stated purposes I'd say the F150 wins hands down.
I have both as well. I love my Bronco - she has garage privileges. I need my F150, but she is an outsider. IF only 1, truck hands down. I don't know if you can swing it financially, but both...I got both mine used and drive a lot of miles. And I ride... truck way better for that.

Yeah, see I'm debating a midsized truck. The Bronco gets everything done, but a truck would make it way, way easier. The Bronco lives in the garage as well, if I got a truck, I'd just have more garage space for bikes and boards, which probably isn't a good thing. Right now, I have everything stacked on racks on the outside walls, one bike vertically hung, etc.

I'd probably go with a 3rd Gen Tacoma TRD ORD or something that still could get to most anything I want to get to, it's tempting. The one main advantage the Bronco has is the washout interior and MGV. I'd trash a normal truck interior without a good bit of modification.

Interesting post! I am in a very similar dilemma. I need a pick up.......but love my 2022 Bronco 2 door Sasquatch. My wife and I love biking, paddle boarding and kayaking, fishing. We often go on vacation hauling paddle boards, kayaks and or our bikes. We currently use her standard cab 2013 Silverado pickup. It's getting old with high mileage though and it' only a single cab. I was thinking to equip the Bronco with a rack system and maybe haul a small trailer...........or just get an F150....or Chevy Silverado Trail Boss with the lift seems nice too. Problem is I LOVE the Bronco.

So the F150 satisfies everything. if it were me I'd get one with the 5.0 V8. Get CAT back dual exhaust right after for that sweet sound, done. I like the 2.7 V6 in the Bronco but if a V8 is available, it's a no brainer to me. The new F150's sit so low though. And I would have to do a mild lift. I much prefer the stance of the Chevy Trail Boss. Good to go right out of the box.

Back to the topic though- the Bronco is good for hauling 2 bikes with a hitch carrier- that is what we use currently on the Bronco. if you have 4 bikes you could put 2 on top with racks. I am considering adding full kayak/paddle board rack system to the Bronco. For those of you who haul kayaks/paddle boards...how easy or difficult is it to load/unload with the racks? I would leave the factory rack on and have to add the J holders for the kayaks. They would have to be bolted on for every use. And I have seen the slider type systems available to ease loading kayaks- anyone use these and how are they?

Get both--works for everything. My F-150 does the bulk of the work and I save the truck by only using the Bronco for off road.

Both is ideal but expensive. For me I'm going into retirement very soon and can only have one vehicle. And one classic truck which is only 400 a year to insure.

You should get a f150. Sounds like you need more room and the ability to tow.

F-150 Tremor is what I would go with if I were you. I love those things!

I went from an F150 to the Bronco. Two different types of vehicles that don't compare very well, but I get it. By every practical metric, it's not even close, F-150 (or nearly any full size pick up) wins hands down. It'll haul and tow everything you need. It's more spacious(in super crew espescially), more comfortable, quieter, and quicker. Properly equipped, it'll also take you most places you want to go off-road, though the extra width and bulk can be limiting. BUT, it's just a bit dull, with a low fun factor. Top doesn't come off, doors don't come off, and just not quite as "cool" as a Bronco.

You NEED an F-150, but you WANT a Bronco.

F150 Super Crew is definitely more useful and comfortable, but the Bronco is a hell of a lotta fun. So I need both. My F150 STX is a 2014 with a 5 liter with almost 200,000 miles. Will be replacing that in a year or two.
