Bronco (to me) is a fun vehicle. It's definitely not "utilitarian". One cannot load much in it, but the "load" will of course depend on the lifestyle. I load fence posts, rocks, animal feed, and many other things because of the way I live. I also pull six-horse trailer when I have to. I need more than one truck, but I also want to have some fun while I'm still here. Two trucks are GMC 2500 Sierra (never leaves the ranch), and F350 King Ranch.

If you can't afford both (Bronco and F150), you absolutely have to get F150. It will not be as fun as Bronco, but practicality (for me) always wins.

I had two F150s. An 18 Lariat and a 20 King Ranch. Now I have a 23 2 Door Bronco. The F150s were far more comfortable and useful than my Bronco. However I love my Bronco many times more. Its louder. Less practical. Way less roomy. However I enjoy it many times more. I would not go back to an F150. lol

traded my 08 F 150 ext cab for my 4dr 2025 Sas Bronco
I'm enjoying a somewhat smaller 4X4(and better gas mileage)
dog will be fine in the Bronco(I've had 6 GSD's)

tow the bikes.....will leave plenty of room in the Bronco

ez pz

Hi all,

I’ve been following this forum for quite some time and am always jazzed to see your adventures, builds, projects, etc.

the bronco to me is a blank canvas.

I’ve stuck on the fence between a bronco and F150 and would like to hear from those who have either made the switch from F150 to bronco or were also on the fence and went this way.

a few things that impact this choice.

-30mi/50km commute per day
-Avid mountain biker. Often need to carry 4-5 bikes ideally. Current vehicle doesn’t allow.
-snowmobile is in my future, plus a small travel trailer of all things go well, so towing is on the table.
-bringing my pup with me 3-4 days a week everywhere I go
-love to turn up the music

-My main goal is to be able to get further away from the city and find some quiet.

I’ve had a few multiple F150s in the past and have no bad experiences. Quiet, powerful, comfortable.

Logically an F150 could be more fuel efficient, a more comfortable commuter, more capable towing vehicle, and generally more of a Swiss Army knife.

nonetheless, I’m still drawn to a bronco.

let’s hear the thoughts.

F-150 Tremor, it does everything well. I have a F-150 Tremor and a Bronco Badlands Sasquatch, the F-150 is the one I would keep if I had to choose. I love my Bronco, but everything in my life is easier because of my Tremor.

We had both a Bronco, F150, and Mustangs. Recently the F150 was totaled due to a distracted driver. I miss that truck. It was more utilitarian than the Bronco.

My vote is for the F150. My "inner Heemeyer" wants to suggest a Komatsu D355A with steel plating and an extra radiator, especially for these roads these days... Not to trash a town or anything, but just to get groceries and drop my child off at pre-school safely...

Wife has a 2024 Big Bend Sasquatch 222A 4DR, I have a 2023 F150 XLT 302A Supercrew. We left Toronto for small town Ontario.

She commutes 56 km a day to her job and has no complaints about it. I vastly prefer the F150 for the same length of drive - it's a much more comfortable and relaxed experience. I enjoy the music in the F150 more than the Bronco due to the ambient noise - but ironically the F150's interior is so quiet I get to hear all the occasional creaks and moans from the interior plastic. Fuel economy is a bit better on the F150 with the 2.7L. For the same drive I hit about 10 l/100km, she hits 12 l/100km.

The dog vastly prefers the Bronco, but that's only because he gets to ride in the cargo area. He used to ride on the backseat of the F150, but with a child in the picture now, he has to ride in a floor mounted crash rated kennel.

The F150 has two downfalls compared to the Bronco - the XLT does not have 4A, so in those mixed winter conditions, I'm constantly between 4H and 2H in the F150. The F150 has also been less reliable than the Bronco - it's been in for a couple of warranty issues. The Bronco hasn't - I spoke to my service advisor and he stated that Broncos never come in for warranty work.

If you plan on using Forscan to modify your truck - you'll get more out of the F150.

If you're driving into Vancouver, the F150 is workable but not great - I routinely drive mine into Toronto and parking is sometimes a problem. Turning radius doesn't help.

If I had to keep one? The F150. But the Bronco is compelling.

It sounds like the F150 wins- for practicality. I will add from experience that you can have practicality and fun too- by having a utility trailer. And as long as you have property and/or a place to store it. I once had property in the past and owned a 2006 Jeep TJ along with a 5 X 8 utility trailer. I would tow kayaks, canoes, bikes, mulch, rocks small tress, etc. with that landscape trailer. As long I was not hauling over 3K LBS, which most cases I was well under, I had a fun vehicle that doubled as a work horse too. I also had a light weight 16' boat, which the Jeep towed with ease. I would be all in for a trailer with the Bronco but unfortunately I do not have a place to store the utility trailer. And storage units are stupid expensive where I live.

That was my first truck. 4x4 Xtra cab, 5-speed manual, forest green. Bought it in Virginia and drove it to Anchorage, AK for college. Great truck. Later replaced with a 2000 Tacoma in same configuration. Even better truck.

Apples and oranges - two entirely different vehicles. Both is the obvious answer

One thing to keep in mind with the F150 is the Supercrew standard bed length is 5.5 ft long. You can upgrade it to 6.5 ft (Expensive) or go with the Extended cab which is standard with the 6.5 ft bed. If you want a 8 ft long bed you are stuck with a plain regular cab.

Keep this in mind with anything you try to haul in the back, but you are better off with the F150 with what you described.

I currently rotate between my 6 vehicles. If I could only have one, hands down a 1/2 ton pickup. They do everything well and would fit your use case perfectly. Could you make a Bronco work in your situation, yes. Would you be making unnecessary compromises, yes. In my opinion, the Bronco is a toy: it looks cool, it's fun to drive, great off-road (be honest with yourself, a f-150 will go more places off-road than most drivers are capable of taking or need to take it off the beaten path), and has many quirks that you have to deal with that make it an impractical daily driver. If you can only have one vehicle, get the f-150 (with the 5.0).

I’m not sure that a bronco is a good substitute for a full-size pick up. I replaced my motorcycle with a two-door bronco because I’m an old fart and it does that quite well. But I still have my F150 and F250 for truck things. And my wife has her vehicles for her things.

Since you didn't mention anything really "off road" in your interests, I suggest the F150 or have you looked at the Ranger Raptor?
