Thought that I'd share my super easy weekend project, that ended up costing only about $100.

Inspired by some of the other threads I found on here, I did a platform for the back of my 2DR. I originally wanted to do a full seat delete, but this setup works really well for my needs of loading/unloading my photo gear. Also, it's nice that the seats are still installed and the platform can be removed in about 5 minutes if needed.

I wanted to be able to cover up my sub to make it less prone to theft with the top down or with my soft top up. Out of sight, out of mind and all that.

Of course still a sacrifice of volume compared to an actual seat delete... but works for my needs and really opens up the useable storage space of the 2dr.

I think you could hinge this, probably in 3 section, and accordion style fold it back on itself to use the backseats. I'm in an urban apt. so if I did something like this (which I want to do) being removable isn't really helpful, because I'd have no where to put it.

Picked up my 2dr base model on 24AUG, and I've been nonstop smiles through the weekend... it's plain, but the perfect blank canvas (2.3L engine, manual transmission, aux switches).

My planned wheels didn't quite work (slight rub on the brake caliper face), I'll sort that out eventually. In the interim the standard wheels/tires are growing on me.

Reserved 12/2020, initial order 3/21, (re)ordered 10/21; dealer honored 2021 MSRP pricing and gave me one of the (discontinued) off road assistance kits. I added my bronco hammock, and a spare pair of tie rods and assorted tools to the kit.

My passenger windshield wiper arm was installed crooked (blade drops below windshield molding). I tried to fix, but need a 2-jaw puller to take the arm off, so I scheduled her first warranty appointment.

Installed curt hitch and passenger rear tow hook (tow hook was a take off piece from a friend at work, cost me a 6-pack of angry orchard cider). Another friend from work is giving me his OEM Badlands rock rails (they're from a 4dr so I'll have to cut them down, thankfully another member here on b6g has done that so I now know the way). Just under 300 miles so far, and I'm getting 28-30mpg

Weird observation - everyone that's looked it over has grabbed the trails sites and shook the vehicle vigorously while asking "what are these?" I hope they don't break off!

Plan to hit our first trail in two weeks, can't wait!

Rubbing because they are 15s? I'm bummed about that too since I tried fitting some 15s. I needed 1/4" spacers on the front to clear rubbing on the face, but they cleared the calipers. The rear however interfered with the caliper on the barrel.

they are 16x7, +40mm offset (spare wheels from 1999-2003 Nissan trucks). the just barely rub the brake caliper on the face. I think maybe 1/8th" spacer would do the trick, maybe less. zero issues on the barrel of the wheel as they are 16"

Now that you guys have busted out the tape measure.

How about fitting a pair of Tele skis in the Bronco? I’ve got 184cm skis.

Looks like I can get them in there and sit the tips on the center console. Not sure I want a ski rack if the Bronco ever arrives, due to how tall the roof is to reach and I’m over 6ft tall.
I could fit my 175 carving board in a Toyota Yaris with room to spare by setting it vertically in the passenger or rear seat with the seat leaned back and the tail tucked in to the foot space.
would be very surprised if you couldn’t fit your planks in using the same method.

You totally could hinge it and have 3 sections that folds back onto itself!

This is also a nice setup for an apartment because you’d have to find someplace to store your seats for a traditional seat delete as well.

Has anyone experienced this: After disengaging the gearing on the seatback to slide the seat forward (as to get a passenger in the rear seat) I manually slide the seat to the rear then use the bottom seat back latch adjuster to get the seatback to the position I need it - and no gears are engaging. Feels like there is no spring tension in the handle on the top of the seat. It almost feels like a cable has snapped, or came out of a holder somewhere near the seat/seatback area. Anyone have a clue? I'll be getting her in ASAP if I can't figure this one out.... Thanks in advance for anyone offering a clue.

I don't mind the slant of the folded down seats too much, but would think a little draw system would be nice to fill that step from the seats being folded forward. I might split the difference and have something that only folded forward halfway up the seats.

Once you slide the entire seat back into position, you just push the vertical portion of the seat back and it will lock into place. It will go to where you had it originally set. You don't need to touch any levers when putting the seat back into position.

It feels disconnected because the upper release latch hasn't snapped back into place. Putting the vertical portion of the seat back will re-latch it.

I hope that makes sense.
