Hey guys!
New to this forum, was hoping one of you guys can come to my aid and help me keep my sanity. Just purchased brand new 22 Wildtrak. For some reason it started doing an insane chirp styrofoam rubbing sounds coming from rear. Literally sounds like styrofoam. Can hear it while i am driving. When ever i go on any bump its very noticeable. Took the car off roading and it was the most annoying experience. Cannot pinpoint the sound.
Have looked at the rear cross bar, no luck
Drove with rear window open , sounds still there.
Tightened all the bolts and screws, sound still there.
I do not know where else to look.
Has anyone had this and fixed it?
God help me !

Is there anything in the storage area under the cargo floor? Seen dealers stick the misc extra parts/accessories in there

I noticed the hinge point on the backs of the back seat were squeaking for me. I have not lubricated them yet to see if that’s my squeak but it sure is the same sound. I’m on a trip but will try this when I get back.

Tried that was well.
Removed the jack and all the hardware to see if it was that with no luck.
Sounds like its coming from the roof area
Crossbar in the rear.

Ive thought it might be something with the seat so i also tried driving it with the seats folded to see if that made any difference but it did not.
How does your squeak sound?

High pitch squeak like you described. Sort of like styrofoam. I have the soft top. Seat back up or down didn’t make a difference. Didn’t do it from the factory. Just started after about 10k miles.

Could it be the bottom of the soft top rear window rubbing on the cargo door? I believe there’s rubber on the bottom which would be resting on metal. That could be the sound you’re hearing.

Hard top? Try removing the roof panels and applying a light coat of silicone lube to all of the gaskets/seals.

Have a look at this thread

MIC Hardtop Issues

My 2 door 2022 wildtrak passenger side has a gap big enough to let light in. This causes windnoise that for some reason sounded like styrofoam rubbing and only does it on occasion.

On top of this, check the following:

Parts left in trunk storage;

Did you install anything on the trunk accessory spot? My molle storage makes weird noises sometimes rubbing against stuff;

Open the sub panel and try to secure it down better, that panel made plastic rubbing noise.

I'm almost positive it's your soft top. I had a similar squeaking sound and could never figure out where it was coming from. It was infrequent, but annoying when it was there. Months later I had the top part of the soft top replaced because the inside was delaminating. Now the squeak is even worse. They messed with the top and it got worse. I'm still waiting for the dealer to come up with a plan. In reality, I have a BD that is supposed to be built next month, and I may just ignore it until the dealer gets it as a trade-in.

Had a similar issue with my FE. It was coming from the speakers mounted to the roll bars. tightened and the sound disappeared. hope you are as lucky.

Have exact same sounds. Tried similar fixes- nothing has worked so far. I'm going to try this speaker tightening and see if that helps.

I get a similar sound off road from the rear window rubbing against the tailgate. If I put a small towel at the top of the door, against the bottom of the window, when I shut the door, it completely stops the sound. But it also seems to clean things enough after driving like that, that the sound goes away for awhile afterward.

It's real easy to try this out to see if it makes a difference.

Guys!!!
Update
After going to 3 different dealerships today only to get sent home because they were all backed up for weeks, i decided to tackle this myself.
I decided to remove the rear part of the top.
What i found is that the mounting screws that mount on the inside of the hardtop were kinda loose.
I had tightened all the exposed ones prior but these were on the inside mounting the hardware to the hardtop that then connect to the pillars on the doors.
I added silicon lubricant after just because i had already bought it .
I retightened everysingle screw back on and done!
No more squeak.
I drove it on the worst road by my house and nothing.
I even went to drive over my nearest train tracks and nothing!
So happy!
Thank you all for your feedback.

Thanks to this thread - solved - or at least greatly reduced the squeak on my hard top. Same issue - mounting bolts against hard top by roll bar were a little loose. Got narrow fit torx bits and was able to tighten them up. 90% Gone, willing to live with the rest. I run a modular rack with tent all the time, will have some squeaks from time to time but no longer want to return the truck.
