What is everybody doing or recommending for the best vehicle security as far as alarms, remote engine cut off after theft, tracking a stolen vehicle, dash cam security, etc?

Can’t have a security thread without the 1980’s solution being brought up. Yes, Ravelco works, and well, BUT with as complex as the electrical systems have gotten in new vehicles I don’t believe the invasive Ravelco installation is a good idea. They interrupt a number of vehicle circuits, I’m almost certain Ford will deny warranty claims on these systems based on the tampering. We can’t even safely trigger a relay with the high beam circuit without potentially bricking the body control module from the module seeing the extra load (of a relay) on the circuit.

Ford sells their perimeter plus alarm add on for around $200, that is as far as I would go rather than having some stereo place start hacking wires. For tracking you have FordPass, and I install an Apple airtag in all of my vehicles. Beyond that you could physically remove the fuel pump relay when parking for a long duration. Most vehicles are stolen with flat bed tow trucks, so short of chaining your Bronco to a tree the thieves will still get it. At some point there is a reason why we pay insurance premiums.

I run a dashcam, but chose not to activate the parking mode since my Bronco isn’t daily driven. The camera works well.

I installed the perimeter plus which is great because it sync's with the ford app and notifications pop up if the alarm is triggered. (Mine was set on the most sensitive setting on the dial from Ford. I found out the first night I went to sleep, every time a motorcycle or loud car passed by it would go off and I got several notifications. I changed it to medium the next day. The dial/knob does not indicate max or min sensitivity so day 1 was trial and error) The down side is I don't think perimeter plus has a tilt sensor, have not been able to find out for sure from anyone, incase someone tries to steal the wheels which is prevalent here.

I installed 2 airtags in separate locations (along with the Ford Pass GPS- probably the first thing professional exporters disable) and I ordered the ring dash cam in February which seems great from the videos, just waiting on delivery sometime May-June. I am also looking into the IGLA alarm system which requires a pin code entered in the dash or steering wheel (ie up, up, down, left) to start the vehicle, which can be disabled via app for remote start. Also helpful for carjackings. Alot of Dodge charger and challengers have been installing this system.

Unfortunately there are plenty of places in the US where that is exactly what could happen. They might arrest the would be thief but he’d be back on the street the same day. Meanwhile the person trying to protect what’s theirs gets prosecuted for assault with a deadly weapon and loses everything.

Yeah... You're not from around these parts are you?

As a CCW holder, you are basically guilty until proven innocent, and the only time you're allowed to use your weapon is if someONEs (not something) life is immediate danger and escape was not an option.

You walk out of your house on purpose to confront someone stealing a "something"... Get ready to lose everything.

But like I said, it depends on where you live.... Politics are not allowed, so let's leave it like that.
