Bronco "Poops" as my sis calls them, the bronco location on the navigation map will leave a little brown dot on the navigation map when the vehicle is turned off or now finding out, when off the navigation map as well, will leave a trail of "poops" to follow back, I assume. It didn't do this last year, so wondering if it came with one of the software updates. I've been at 4.2.1 for a bit, and then it updated to 4.2.2 last week, so been doing it at both of those versions. I don't have the paid for navigation, never bought that after it expired last year. Just standard High package, so no Lux stuff. I had been seeing them when stopping in a parking lot, like grocery store. And since always parking in a different parking stall each week, always a new brown spot. Found out last week, when I went to the U.P., that when I went off the main road to an unmarked navigation map area, the bronco left a trail of "poops" to follow back. Now I 'm assuming that the "poop" plops in the grocery lot is just because I went "off-road" and it left a mark there.
Just curious about it. Not sure if it can be turned off or on or if the "poops" can be cleaned up ;) , since I never explicitly turned anything on before it started happening. All the navigation settings are greyed out except map orientation because I don't have paid for navigation.
Just curious. Haven't seen it mentioned before.

Breadcrumbs. The system auto determines when to drop them so you can find your way home if you are off road.

Dont ask me how it decides, we don’t know.

There are settings to toggle it Auto/On/Off. Search about the Nav and you’ll find them

I also has 4.2.1 and upgraded to 4.2.2 last week. I also have the breadcrumbs on my nav map and also did not pay after nav expired.

Like Boreal said, they help navigate back home when offroad. I also discovered this when in backcountry Utah and Colorado in August. I had no reception so no Google maps but the Bronco nav map is locally stored on the Bronco so I used it to navigate. That along with the breadcrumbs made for a useful combo to compliment our primary paper map.

I think the setting to modify the breadcrumbs is in the Navigation | More settings. Problem is, without paying for the navigation, that option is greyed out for me, can't modify. Guess I'm stuck with the "poops". ;) lol

breadcrumbs are great when you lose nav and are trying to find your way through a mess of fire roads

As long as the wife doesn't look too closely - don't need her seeing that I hit the McD's drive through on my way home. LOL
