I should have taken all of the reports regarding the cheap ass windshields Ford uses for the Bronco seriously. My Big Bend has 2 major cracks from debris while driving on highway home. What a waste of money this purchase was. Less than 5,000 miles. My advise, DO NOT buy a Bronco unless you own a glass company.

I replaced my windshield twice. Recently got a stone chip, and I used the RainX repair kit. I worked perfectly. I also used it on a chip on my son's 2006 Jeep Commander.

At ~27,500 I have had one actual crack in the windshield while on 66 during traffic that was just shot up by a work truck next to me- but besides that that windshield was spotless. My new one is spotless now too. I would beg to say that the windshield is one of the strong pieces of the car. I have a couple of A pillar paint scratches but the windshield has stayed strong through most of its time. I understand that windshield cracks suck, but at some point you gotta be okay with it from a vehicle shaped like an Amazon box. In the same way that you forgo good gas mileage from the shape of the car, you also present yourself with a higher likelihood to get a crack. Having a Bronco isn’t a glamorous experience- it’s noisy, plasticy, and everything is build like it’s made to be removed… cause it is. It’s not a car of pleasantries, and as such you can only care so much when things like this happen.

A rock hit or first 2021 base bronco windshield and cracked it. We go it repared! Then bought a wildtrak and a raptor. Glass is strong until it is not.

I don't have as many posts as most members do, but I don't bitch about every little thing. This post cracks me up, along with a LOT of others!

Sell your vehicle and ride a bike.

Better yet: Buy a spare windshield and use it as a screen protector. When it cracks, no need to take it to a shop. Just pull it off, tape a new one on, thus leaving your original windshield pristine as the day you bought it!

Madness? That's what they said at SafeLite. Called me mad. Well, I showed them. Who's laughing now?

Personally, I’m more upset about all the bugs that feel my windshield is the place they feel they have to commit suicide.
My white grill too. The little bastards. It’s always right after you wash it.

Right. After. You. Wash. It.

Somebody needs to come up with a fold down windshield mod for the Bronco. Then we could all wear helmets and really got that fresh air outdoorsy experience.

Second owner on a '22 with ~50,000 miles... had one tiny star crack that pretty much disappeared with the $20 Rainx kit from Amazon.
I just dont get everyone complaining about the windshields cracking... it doesn't happen to mine! :)

Now... why do I only get 18mpg in something that has twin turbos and makes 300 + hp?

To everyone saying 'don't follow so close', that may not work in a major urban area. Traffic can be heavy so you can't keep a big distance to the next vehicle (somebody will just move into it), plus as others have noted trucks are in the next lane over and you're forced to go past them because of the way traffic is going. I had plenty of dings and a few cracks on windshields during my years in the S.F. Bay Area (including one just a month after getting a windshield replaced), yet I tend to keep a longer following distance than most people.

I'll definitely be getting both a wind deflector and protective film ASAP when my Bronco comes in a couple of months from now, even though I'm now in a smaller metro with less intense traffic.

The bugs don't even have the guts to come back and try again! Their friends dive in instead to meet the same fate. Buggers!
I hear ya about traffic, but if there's a semi or even worse construction truck in front of me, I lay back on the throttle, I don't care if people behind me get mad, and I let other people in front of me fill the gap to get damaged. I'll never drive behind a construction truck again.

Sorry this happened to you.

I’m not sure what I’d do if that happened to my BBR.

Hope it gets fixed.
You get the windshield replaced. It’s a consumable. Shit happens. Get insurance that covers glass. Can’t believe this is an actual thread

Well, I guess karma decided to bitch-slap me for posting in this thread earlier because I got my first crack yesterday. Heard it happen somewhere on the backroads between Richmond and Warrenton but didn’t see anything. Got home today to saddle up the Bronco and I have a 6-inch crack starting from a chip near the A pillar about halfway up. Less than 60 days since purchase so of course it’s annoying.

But whatever, what I want to know is who makes the best/toughest replacement glass? I’d rather pay out of pocket for a beast of an aftermarket windshield and add protection film over that than let my insurance buy me a cheap ass replacement and have to do it again in a year. I’ll reread this thread to see if this was already answered but please reply with if you have a good recommendation.

Sorry I know that sucks. I'm not sure if it's still true, but when I had mine replaced the guy said his only option was the OEM from ford. I will tell you that I'm picking up one of the Rain-X repair kits to keep in the Bronco in case I pick up another chip. Hoping to slow it down before it spreads.
