I've read conflicting information on various sites as to whether or not you should change the oil on a shorter OCI with a brand new vehicle. I'll be getting a 2.3L Badlands in a few weeks, and would like to make sure I do it right.

Should you leave the factory oil in for the normal OCI or change it sooner like back in the day?

As to offroad operation, other than waiting the 1,000 miles before doing anything fast/hard or using the CC, is there any break in period/procedure before I take the vehicle off-road and do up to moderate difficultly trails? My badlands is a manual if that makes any difference.

This is like asking someone which jelly is the correct jelly to use on PB&J sandwiches.

I'll just say this: Ford's break-in procedure mentions nothing about an oil change. At the same time, there is really no such thing as changing your oil too often. You do you.

Check below this thread near the bottom of the webpage under the "Similar threads" section, there will be countless threads discussing this topic.

p.s. Strawberry is the correct answer. 🍓

Yeah, I figure the oil question is that way, but I'm more interested if there is something to do or not do offroad for for a bit, or if everything is g2g after the 1,000mi break in. I never had a brand new offroad vehicle, and I don't know if gears or suspension components need break in time before you stress them with offroad duty.

Nah, there is nothing really special about off-road vehicles.

I wouldn't go immediately go do the hardest off-road terrain out there. But mild to moderate off-roading is fine just as a shake-down is fine. I personally took my Bronco fall sight-seeing off-road in Vermont the first weekend I owned it. It wasn't the most challenging terrain out there, but it would have been difficult to do in your average crossover.
