Hey guys,
Had a bizarre interaction with my dealer today I wanted some opinions on. I was planning on cancelling my order, no fault to Ford I just don't have a build date or VIN number yet and am not in a position to wait months for another vehicle. I emailed my dealer to do this (figured they would be happy as it meant they could sell it for markup rather than honoring our MSRP deal). However they replied saying that just by removing the tow package they could get it much much sooner, I basically told them that was bullshit as I have a 2 door MIC top Sasquatch package BD. After a few hours I told him I'd still like to cancel, however he replied saying that they already submitted the new order with no tow package and already received a build date and a VIN number. There is absolutely no way the turn around is that quick right? Is this classic dealer fuckery? They are supposed to call me tomorrow morning with my VIN number.
UPDATE: Dealer ignored all my phone calls and emails this morning, called Fords Marketing department who confirmed to me that no changes had been submitted for my order and that I had no VIN number or build date.
I replied back telling dealer this and that I would like to cancel my order and refund deposit. They refused stating that deposits are nonrefundable (this is not what I was told when submitting deposit, I was told it was refundable which is why I agreed to putting 1000 dollars down. Granted that agreement was verbal). I am now on hold with Fords Marketing department while arguing with dealer. Will update.
Dealer is Corwin Ford of Nampa, Idaho.
UPDATE 2: First off, Ford has an excellent marketing department. Its a shame you have to deal with dealerships to get their products.. Spoke with one of their support representatives and explained the issue, she called the dealership on my behalf and I now am getting my deposit back!
TLDR: Tried to cancel my order, dealer lied and said order had VIN, confirmed with Ford it did not, dealer refused to issue refund on deposit after previously agreeing to do so, had to call Fords Marketing department who resolved issue with dealer.
