Check your beach. Some have compressors at the entrance/exit. First time I went to a local beach, got my compressor out all proud of myself until someone coming in pointed to the air hose (in vivid yellow no less) right at the entrance!
Good point see compressors often even in Canada and it's three month summers, for blow up toys mainly but they work.

I highly recommend the ARB twin. You also need some fishing rod holders from Xrack.us

It can get expensive. Air-up times get to be a brag point, like we used to have with acceleration back in the days of muscle cars. (Dating myself, there.)

If you think you'll be airing up a lot, consider one of the NAPA-based two cylindar compressors. Moreflate, our own TrickyDick (a vendor here) are based on them, and I bought the ThorsLightning with the two-hose/four tire manifold setup. Once you do it a few times, you can get aired up in 10-12 minutes.

Experiment with different pressures for the sand you're going on. Cape Cod sand calls for 10psi. YMMV. But with 4L or 4H, you may not need that. I found the Goodyear OEMs very adequate. If this is all new to you, remember to get out of 4L or 4H when you get back on pavement!

I ride the beach all the time. First time out with the SAS Bronco, I aired down to 25psi. Drove like a charm. Second time out when I came off the beach I went to air up and just then realized I had forgotten to air down. I had no issues in the sand with the stock 35’s at 35-37psi. I haven’t aired down since. Three years now, making 15-20 beach outings per year, no issues.

Living close to OBX I hit the drivable beach when possible and have never aired down in my mall-crawler OBX with no lift or big tires. Even driving through some of the softer sand back in the neighborhood part this thing just RIPS.

...also I'm told there is an air-up station on the way out.

One thing I'll tell you is never rely on a supplied air compressor to always be working or available.

Here on Long Island our beach has 3 air stations at the popular 4x4 fishing beach. During the main fishing season you're always waiting on line for those and you could be waiting 20-30 minutes. Sometimes the air compressors are down. Other times they are turned off for the season.

Sooo never a bad idea to have something as a backup.

When I go fishing if there is nobody behind me and a free air station, i'll use one. Otherwise if I see someone behind me i'll drive past the air station and use my onboard system. It'll take me a LITTLE longer but at least I left the air station for someone else.

If you're airing down 35s to something like 15-20 PSI expect a long wait filling them back up with that unit.

You will need to let it cool down after a couple of tires. I used to use a similar thing before I went arb twin and it would get scary hot if I didn't give it 10 minutes or so of cool down between a few tires.

It will work, just don't overwork it, and be patient. If you don't do this often and don't off-road much, don't waste money on an expensive compressor and use what you have!

I hit the Texas beaches regularly and have not had a need to air down, figured if I need to air down I can do it when I need to. I have a modified trickflate and the MORRflate 4-way hose and the wife and I can have the Bronco aired up (18psi to 38psi) in about 7 minutes and that includes putting the hoses and compressor up.
