The BD 265 tire guys talk about going up to 285 after taking delivery. What about 275's? Is it the ugly duckling in-betweener?

Do whatever you want to do, it's your Bronco. Personally you're not gaining much, so I'd hold off on that tire sway until the existing tires wear out.

The width number alone tells you ....width....you need the aspect ratio and wheel size also.
285 by what??
275 by what? I only see a 70
That's simply a wider Big Bend tire --- 275/70-17 = 32.2"
Big Bend stock 255/75-17 = 32.1"
So yeah, the ugly duckling for sure, lol.

Check out them 285/75-17's though! 33.8"

32" Tire Diameter

235/85R17 = 32.7X9.3R17
255/75R17 = 32.1x10R17
275/70R17 = 32.2x10.8R17
285/70R17 = 32.7x11.2R17
305/65R17 = 32.6x12R17
32X10.5R17
32X11.5R17

33" Tire Diameter
255/80R17 = 33.1x10R17
285/75R17 = 33.8x11.2R17
295/70R17 = 33.3x11.6R17
305/70R17 = 33.8x12R17
33X10.5R17
33X12.5R17

Thanks for the insight. Guess I have another question. My '01 Ranger had factory Long Trails that I replaced with same size KO's. Get a little inner fender rub near steering lock. Does the General Grabber that comes with the BD trim have a more rounded shoulder compared to what I would eventually go to KO2's? Is a rounded shoulder or squared off shoulder a thing? Thanks

Tirerack.com has good pics of the tires they sell. Go there and compare which ever tires interest you.

Yes, sidewall design is a thing. I guess it's not surprising that a more aggressive tire in stock size might rub if the clearances were tight to begin with.
