Same here for Polk Marine eventually. Until you do that, you can get away with a "subtractive" EQ trick. Base down to about a quarter - third and pump the treble way up and the mid range, about half as much, whatever you like. This produces more gain for the mid high end to get that sparkly sound without getting too boomy.

I put the 402s in and its night and day. Would recommend

As I said in just about every stereo thread on here, there are metra harnesses that work, they just don't fit 100%

Metra 72-5600 don't snap into the factory connectors cleanly, but they do fit and do work.

I used them on the dash speakers and I sort of agree with this. The pins inside the connectors are the correct gauge, but no other part of the connector is compatible. You have to bend the pins and jam them in.

That being said, it is a way to install speakers without cutting any wires which is the best we have for now I suppose.

I had the same experience. I did electrical tape them to be safe, but the friction would’ve held them together.

Nope .... the Lux pkg is where u get the BnO system but I dont think its worth it at all, considering all the aftermarket choices

Bose speakers are nothing special, AFAIK... when people say they like the sound of Bose speakers they usually mean they like the sound of Bose DSP, IMO.

^^True, I have the Bose system in my 992, and my wife has the Harman Kardon in her X5. I like both, with slight edge to the Harman Kardon. With my preference for Bose home stereo and those 2 car stereo brands, what would you recommend upgrading in the High package stereo?

If the speakers are the same as the base, that would be my first suggestion.

I went with budget (cruchfield house brand) speakers and while they did sound better than the factory speakers, they didn't really "come alive" until I added an amp (and a sub).

I've since replaced the 6.5" crutchfield's with Kenwood 1696PS (flushmount) so I could install the factory grilles over the speakers, they don't actually sound any better (and maybe even a bit worse) but I wanted a clean look and that required using the factory speaker covers.

These only fit in the front. Just tried the rears and the middle thing sticks out too far. I made it work but not ideal.
