Badlands SAS - Looking for Economic Winter Setup

I'm trying to buy a set of used rims because they are plentiful on marketplace or the like, and then purchase a new set of winter tires for the rims.

If I buy a set of take off rims from a different trim, will they still work/fit on my Bronco Badlands SAS?

For example, I think the steelies look really cool, but they are hard to find, and I think they're different (smaller) than my current SAS setup. This isn't an issue as long as the tires I order fit those rims, right? Or am I forgetting something? ... like, they look tiny compared to the stock SAS rims/tries.

The BD black steelies will work but you'll need to go with a narrower tire than your Sas tires to avoid possibly rubbing the UCAs...something 285 width or less will work.

Call me crazy, but I don't really believe there's a need to change anything for winter use. Drive slower, be safe and sane, and use the tech that's there, no?

Yes any Bronco or 2019+ Ranger wheel will work, assuming you go skinnier than a 285 if they are high offset like a +55.

With the 4.70 gears you probably want to go with a tall and narrow tire.

18" wheels are probably your best best, because there are a ton of full size truck tires in that range.

That last one is an LTX M/S so not a dedicated snow tire, but pretty good.

I really liked the Goodyear's the few snow & ice storms it drove in, lots of sipes and biting edges, no issues for the most part in 4A. Impressed enough I plan on keeping them for winter use when I upgrade tires/wheels. Maybe try them and you might save even more $ by just running them.

I'm more of the mind that these are badass tires and should be amazing this winter. I'll definitely post about it if they are either amazing or total crap this winter in the snow. lol

i do quite a bit of driving up and over some mountain passes in Utah and Colorado and want a pair of dedicated snow tires.

also there are traction laws in effect at times and I can get ticketed if I don’t have snow rated tires, which I’m almost certain (?) the stock tires are not snow rated. Cops don’t always check, but maybe 3-4x each winter they stop me to check.

The stock SAS Territories ARE Mud and Snow rated (but not triple snow-flake like K02s, Wildpeaks, or Duratracs), so you're fine there. I agree with a previous poster that the Territories are capable winter tires - the siping and closely-spaced lugs all help these tires grip well in ice and snow; as a result these are my snow-wheeling tires of choice.

On a snow run last winter, a late-model Landcruiser shod with Wildpeaks slid all over the place, not sure what was up with that. My Territories kept me well planted the entire time, at around 15 psi.

Dedicated snow tires are the best option. You can find lots of Outer Banks wheels on Craigslist. Overall size should be fine, just a small speedometer error.

Cost of snow tires is small compared to an accident. Have a dedicated setup for my wife’s Subaru and they make a huge difference.

In my experience the Goodyears work better in slick stuff than most actual snow tires I've used. I'd just buy another set of take offs to be your winter set if the concern is preserving your stock wheels.

Yeah - I even did a fair amount of snow wheeling with the factory Goodyears. Haven't had anything stand out like "HOLY CRAP I NEED NEW TIRES" haha - but yeah, if it's the wheel specifically you're wanting to protect, some takeoffs are your best bet.
Honestly, I have yet to do any damage to my wheels, but my trim rings have a couple scuffs.
You can pick up spare trim rings for even cheaper than entire wheels, maybe even some painted ones on Amazon.
