Omg 😳
You have no idea how helpful this is. I really didn’t wanna get into amp upgrades and wiring unless absolutely necessary. This post should be pinned lol @mdube72 thank you!!!

WIDirtFishing, Did you do this speaker upgrade and are you pleased with the results? Or did you go another route? If so, what did you end up doing?

I want to achieve this goal by:
Upgrade front Dash and Center Speakers
Upgrade rear Pods (high quality 4"ers or 6.5s, i really dont' care)
@WIDirtFishing - can save you a lot of time if this is your goal:
**This is your most cost effective way to upgrade the speakers you mentioned. ** If you want to go bigger on the speaker pods - then you have 3 choices for 6.5 inch speaker pods ***Make sure you get the right ones for 4Dr or 2Dr. I gave you listings just to get you to the right place.
With the 6.5 pods - I would go with the Hertz DCX 165.3 - Hertz DCX 165.3 Dieci Series 6-1/2" 2-way car speakers at Crutchfield

COST
  • To order (5) of the Hertz DCX 100.3 and get all the install harnesses from Crutchfield the cost is $389.97. You will have 1 speaker left over b/c of the center channel. I am sure you can sell it on the forum or keep one in the event you pop one down the road.
  • To order 4 of the Hertz DCX 100.3 and get all the install harnesses from Crutchfield the cost is $259.98 and then you need (1) PRV Midrange for the center channel through Amazon and 1 Metra 72-5603 harness - $28.89 for both. So $288.87 total.
You just need to decide do you want all 3 front speakers to be co-axial or have the center channel be a midrange only - comes down to taste and if you want to save $100.
I gave you all listings for Hertz speakers because they are all HIGH sensitivity speakers at above 92db. I would not recommend going to speakers that are lower than this as I assume you are keeping your factory amp. You will be pleased with the results of the above. Also assuming you have the B&O system in your Bronco.

I went with this option for my 2023 OBX LUX, replaced the dash corners, left the center, replaced the kick panel speakers, and the rear pods upgrading to 6.5" and MAN what a difference! Full HERTZ Dieci series all around using the SSV pods for the rear and the fullness of sound is amazing. This solution using the OEM B&O amp is my favorite upgrade to my ride. What it did for the mid range and clarity of the high end is pure music to my ears.

Cost me a bit over $800 through Crutchfield and about 4 hours of time in my garage. Anyone considering this upgrade as a DIY should invest in a set of interior panel tools and take your time to figure out removal of the driver side kick panel; it is a bit of a PITA!

Happy Listening!

The HERTZ DCX 165.3s. Get them through Crutchfield and they will include the mounting adaptor. The adaptor will require minor modification. Nothing that a pair of wire snips and a sharp knife can't handle though, so pretty straight forward install. The adaptors are "universal" for this application you need to get rid of the mounting tabs on the inside of the mount.

But Matt, I suspect you know about the need to modify the mount already.

I have a mount from the Memphis I tried out. I pulled them out because I felt I lost too much mid-bass. What are your thoughts on the Hertz down there versus the stock 6.5's ?

Everyone's listening experience is there own. That said, adding the HERTZ to the kick panel enhanced the overall "stage". For me, I feel it adds a more immersive and full listening experience and enlarges the stage presence of the music, this includes the mid bass range (i think the HERTZ excel in this range). Simply said, it sounds noticeably different to my ear, and above all that, I like how it sounds.

Not that it matters; but I listen to all genres of music, from classical to 1930's instrumental jazz, and vocals by Bess, and Ela, Louis; to Reggae; Stick Figure, Alborosie, Michael Frante, to southern country rock; Chris Stapleton, Zake Brown, Jimmy B., to heavy metal and guitar heavy blues; Joe Bonamassa, Kingfish, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Metallica, Motle Crue, .... what ever the mood demands.

Adding the HERTZ speakers, in my opinion, really does get the best out of the stock B&O system.

Thanks for sharing ! Good to get some solid feedback on the Hertz. Perhaps a fall project coming in my future ! 😄
