Yes, there was some interference with the plastic air duct underneath the speakers on both the driver and passenger side. The Tempo 402s are about 1/4 in deeper than the Maximo 402s (as well as the other popular speakers people are using). I used 2 layers of the cardboard cutouts in the packing material as spacers by placing the cardboard underneath the mounting flange to raise the speakers enough so the magnet wasn't sitting directly on the air duct. I shopped for real spacers but couldn't find any the right size. And the cardboard seemed to work pretty well.
Did you have an issue with the grill cover not fitting after adding the spacers?

No, the tweeters are recessed into the speaker cone so there's plenty of room. But I did trim some of the plastic ribbing from the underside of the grills just to make sure there wouldn't be any interference. The plastic is really soft so it's easy to remove with a knife.
