Glad it worked for you! I'm jealous, since my base didn't come with LEDs, it doesn't have the extra wire to separate turn and stop. So I have to live with the slight delay (that or live without the amber turn signals). I guess I rather die pretty
If someone local does a non led I’ll see if I can help with the install. Might be able to figure it out if I can get hands on it. Got 2 dip switches and 6 options in for scan to mess with.

Wait, I thought it was plug and play if you have halogen and only needs Forscan adjust if you have signature/LED?

Delay with brake lights?! That seems dangerous.

Read the last post on page 1 from reechar. First I’ve heard of it.

I guess I will have a better understanding once I have the units in hand - but, what’s causing the delay exactly?

I can't say for sure...but from what I think I've pieced together is...

The factory LED taillights have two separate wires to activate turn signal or brake light.
Contrasting that, the factory halogens send both turn signal and brake light on the same wire.

These aftermarket tail lights have a dip switch to run them in "halogen mode" or in "led mode". That way you don't need separate models between people with factory halogens or factory LEDs.

When in halogen mode they need a moment to distinguish if the signal coming in is for a turning or for braking. In LED mode, there isn't a delay because it knows which signal is coming in based on which wire.

So if your car came with factory halogens (like my base) , I think there are 3 options...

1. Run the tailights in halogen mode. You get the amber turn lights, but there is a delay in your brake lights. NOT GREAT, but this is the option I went with. I figure I drive manual and engine brake, so the car slowing down without brake lights coming on immediately is already sort of normal. Also the 3rd brake light does still light up immediately, so thats at least something.

2. Run the taillights in LED mode. The amber turn lights no longer work. But the brake lights come on immediately. When you use the turn signal, the red brake light part blinks instead of the ambers. This isn't too bad, but I prefer the amber turns over the red brakes as a turn signal.

3. This is hypothetical and the most involved... but you could in theory run the additional wire, and then enable it in forscan, then set the tailights in LED mode. This way you get instant brake lights, and the amber turn signals. Changing this setting in forscan doesn't seem too bad, but I'm not sure how involved running the new wire is...

If your car came with factory LEDs, then I think the answer is simple, just run the taillights in LED mode and you're good to go.

Black Diamond with Halogens here - also manual, so - you make a good point. I guess I’ll run with it like you have and see how I like it.

I gotta say. These lights are much nicer in person than I even expected. I’ll report back on Halogen swap - since it seems like the rest of you were coming from LED.

Interested to see how they work for ya.

Thought it might be helpful to include a video of what I mean when I say theres a delay. Sorry for the crappy angle, cold out and my garage is short. You can see the third brake light comes on before the brake light gets brighter. If you watch with audio you can also hear when my foot hits the brakes.

@reechar Ah, dang. That is pretty significant. Did you happen to write them and see if there is anything that can be done? Do you think it will cause an issue during state inspection?

I think if you were to run wires from pins 5 and 6 to the correct pins on the BCM ( C2280E ), and then activate the proper settings in Forscan, you could get this to work with Halogen without delay.. Would love to try this but have spent too much $$ for Bronco Presents already and might be able to get into it sometime next year.

That’s the delay I had when I started with my leds. Flipped 1 dip switch, couple forscan changes and it worked.

Did you post which changes? Did I miss that?

Edit: oh, I see. You updated the original post. Cheers 🍻
