I’m thinking about getting the AAL cargo shelf but I have concerns with fitment. I currently have the AAL passenger side ARB compressor bracket with compressor mounted and a Blue Sea fuse panel on the driver side powering my fridge and accessories. Both are mounted to the pop out panels. For those that have the AAL shelf, would either the shelf brackets or shelf itself interfere with the fuse panel and/or the compressor? The pics on AAL’s site aren’t very clear with the various angles nor are there any with it mounted on a Bronco Raptor.

Here is my shelf at its highest. Less than 21” of clearance. Also the way I see it your air compressor would need to be moved. Love the shelf but even I have concerns about future equipment fit issues.

Thanks for the angles and measurements!

Unfortunately, I don’t have anywhere else I can move the air compressor as my dual battery system takes up the space under the floor. I will contact AAL tomorrow but looks like I’ll have to give up on getting the shelf.

Would you happen to have a measurement of how far the right edge of the shelf is from the pop out panel? Maybe the compressor will fit in that space and not necessary need the shelf to clear over the top of it.

… I believe that you can install the side shelf brackets 180* upside down. That will give you more height.

I have a 2dr version on order and have watched a couple of their videos on the shelves installs.

The side shelf bracket, not the one that mounts to the roll cage.

There is a specific mounting bracket for the bronco Raptor from AAL that is not listed on their website I just saw it in a few of their pictures and called them to have one manufactured for shelf. I do recommend cutting the shelf bracket flush with the base of the shelf to give yourself full access to the side panels and may clear the compressor. you could also mount the compressor on top or below the shelf

Is it a separate bracket than what they list on their website?

once you select the Bronco Raptor option it should get you the right bracket. if you're planning on shortening the bracket though its tough steel. Took me a minute to get through it

the space between the shelf and intention of the side panels is 4”. I looked at everybodys pictures and do not think it will work with the bracket you have on the air compressor. I also think cutting the bracket will not achieve what you desire. Also the side brackets are completely different from Bronco to Braptor and cannot be flipped. Sometimes the Bronco owners don’t understand this is a Braptor site and a lot of their accessories do not fit in our world. Good luck with your decision.

…are you sure about that?

You and @sadiki2527 both have braptors … each of you installed the side shelf brackets 180* differently, just saying

@350vudu I would call ALab and talk with James (owner) might be able to cut different sides to allow a higher shelf

I can see now what bracket you are talking about now to make the shelf higher now. But as far as if it will give enough room to mount the air compressor with the existing air compressor mount I still think not. it will come down to him buying the shelf modifying it and see if it fits. If I wanted this shelf that badly I would look at the possibility of moving the air compressor. There are all kinds of mounts and placements for the air compressor. After all, that was his biggest concern he could not move the air compressor. I gave the measurements he requested and his decision on what he wants to do with them.

Thanks for your help. Moving the compressor is not an option as there is no where else I can put the compressor. There are no mounts in the engine bay for the Braptor and the under the cargo floor spot is taken by my dual battery system. Mounting on the shelf is also not an option as I plan to remove the shelf after every camping trip. It won’t live permanently in the truck. If it happens that it won’t fit then I would rather not get the shelf than to move the compressor.

I’ve emailed AAL and explained the situation. Maybe they will have a solution or can make a custom piece for me. I wouldn’t mind if they made a shelf that was shorter an inch or two width wise to allow it to fit.

lol exactly what I am going to do…. I like the 2door version but it doesn’t work with rear seats.

So I ordered ( awaiting delivery) the 2dr Bronco shelf from A/L and after installing the roll bar brackets it will tell me how much higher I need.

2door Broncos are rarer than Braptors and need storage options… so getting something closer and modifying it is what we need to do…

I have fab skills but A/L has some big tools…. If I just ask if they can add specific length and holes to their side plates, they have the cad profile…

@350vudu : How much room does the dual battery take up? DV8 makes a bigger storage unit for both the ARB dual compressor and a non-compressor. I have heard the compressor unit is fairly large and can accommodate more than just the pump.

I also have the AAL shelf in the Braptor. It attaches to the mounting for the C-Brace. As it has been said, not enough room for the compressor. A cutout on the shelf may work....But I am not sure how it would affect how the shelf connects, and how it would hold up when Items are put on it.

I have the ARB single compressor mounted in the tailgate with the AAL tailgate mount. I have seen people mount the ARB near the rear windows using a molle shelf, which may work out. I have a slant back top, using DV8 pocket molles. In the pic below, you can see the space I am talking about. Perhaps there may be a way to get a molle in that position and mount it to that.

The dual battery takes up all the space and the factory jack location houses all the extra airline I ran to each wheel well

Do your molle panels attach to the hardtop? I take my hardtop off for months at a time in summer and fall so wouldn’t work unless there’s no hardtop attachment points
