Wanted to provide feedback and tips on AAL's 2-Door Side MOLLE Panels. I purchased these for the main purpose of mounting my EcoFlow 800w alternator charger. The design allowed for the charger to mount low and out of sight from a passerby.

I ordered the aluminum panels unfinished for a quicker delivery. They do offer the industry standard textured black powder coat. And you can also get any color offered from the Prismatic Powders catalog. For the size of the of the panels, I didn't feel the up-charge was worth it. So instead I opted for a simple rattle-can treatment. The color is much darker than the photos as I had to provide supplemental lighting to illuminate the dark rear seat area. I chose Rust-Oleum 2X Satin Midnight Blue as it was the closest that matched the Luna interior option on the OBX. $6 vs. $25 for the textured black powder coat.

In the above photo, you'll notice a red line seam. It is the tape covering the adhesive of the rubber u-channel trim. I added this to prevent any rubbing against the interior plastic trim. Because I opted to spray paint the panels, they may require touch-up in the future. I didn't want the hassle of removing adhesive. The u-channel fits snug without removing the tape so it will easily be removed/added if repainting is necessary.

American Adventure Lab does offer a veteran's discount so if you qualify be sure to go through their verification for a unique discount code. The discount will offset their inflated shipping cost. NOTE: The panels also come with a "cap" panel that fits in the windowsill. I chose to not install them, but they are pictured on their website.

Man, those are some marketing-grade pictures. Paint job looks great too
They did set the bar pretty low with the photos they took and have on their website.

It wasn't my intention of promoting the panels for the benefit of AAL. But rather to let other 2-dr owners of an option that isn't often mentioned. I did post in the monolithic mega-What Did You Do To Your Bronco Today- thread. But figured it was best to have a separate post/thread in the Interior Modifications sub-forum where more information was made available.

Those look nice! I have these in my 2 door. They sit further back, closer to the tail gate.

I'd like to see if the two will work together. Fitment against the side interior plastic panel doesn't look to be a problem as the AAL side panel fits snug and conforms to the molding. But the windowsill fitment might be tight.

Edit: Also are the Built Right Industries panel steel or aluminum?

I have a set of these ready for install. I'll try and add some pictures to this thread. Originally i ordered only the lowers, and the topping bracket came undrilled so they had to send me another set. I then ordered the uppers because i realized I too wanted to mount that EcoFlow charger, but I wanted mine higher up to make the run to the power station a little more easily. I'm doing the install this weekend.

🤔

Look forward to pictures as I have no idea what you are referring to with the bold reference. The AAL 2-Door Side MOLLE Panels had no options to order other than: Unfinished/PC/Custom Color.

The 4DR has uppers listed. I assume that's what they meant. Other than being too short and not filling the window, not sure they wouldn't work on a 2DR with some minor effort.

That's exactly right. My EcoFlow Delta 2 sits strapped down on the AAL Cargo Shelf about 2 feet above the load floor. So this will let me keep the charger at about the same level as the Delta 2. Also, if you haven't actually used the EcoFlow charger yet here are a few tips:

  • There is a small shim-like tool in the box, this is to more easily release the cables on the charger side. Don't lose it :)
  • Firmware updates are absolutely critical with these products. I had to reconnect the charger to my wifi a couple times before I got offered the actual update that made it behave the way I expected
  • How it's supposed to work workflow wise: You leave it in the rig, wired and ready to go. When you're going to adventure, you bring your power station to the vehicle (ideally with a little power in it). Hook it to the charger, and power it on. The power station will power on the charger. The charger then goes into standby, and waits till it reads +13V from the battery and then draws. There are configureable timeouts for the power station.
  • If your power station is dead: Start your engine, hit button on charger, it will start doing its thing, but then rely on the power station as a source, not your battery.

Here are my current charger firmware:

Nice option for sure. I've already doubled the weight of the Bronco with my door and rear bags etc.. 😁
