Has anyone gone ahead and swapped out these uncomfortable seats (Driver/Passenger) on the 6th Gen Bronco yet? I'm currently strongly considering it as I'm still getting lower back pain from the bad seat geometry/design. I've tried seat jackers on both front rails and the rear of the driver seat rails with no relief. I understand how these seats could be comfortable for some but from my experience the pedals come up a bunch and for us with longer legs the shorter seat pan makes it tough to get comfortable (I'm 6'1).

I've looked at the Recaro line and Corbeau and PRP. I have been looking at the Trailcat:
https://corbeau.com/products/trailc...UwyKISIIWgPGBRsQ8EUIETxBFmAvj2UgEjTKlSUJZfrto

But they still don't have any direct fit bracket with sliders from what I've been able to find. I emailed an inquiry to Corbeau and got this response:

"Thank you for your interest in Corbeau and for reaching out to us! We do not currently have a bracket that will be applicable to your specific vehicle. However, we closely monitor requests, and I will ensure that this gets to our development team. We have gotten many requests for these vehicles, so I would imagine that they are next up on the list, but I can’t say when exactly we may have brackets ready to go.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any further questions."

Any one with a similar issue or considering this Mod?

One of the things I miss most was the roomy seating position Bronco seats have. Not kidney punchers like my Explorer Timberline had.

Search forum I saw universal brackets that will interface with any seat. Try and find a decent seat with side airbags if possible (Mustang, Volvo) and get plugs repinned /.adapted something better than nothing. Otherwise, and welding shop can adapt a mounting bracket.

These are the worst seats I've ever seen in every aspect Ford should be embarrassed even if they were on cheapest car they make.

Another path is to have upholstery shop make you new foams and covers budget $6K or so.

Somehow they are comfortable for me though.

I think my leather trim/vinyl seats are ok. I'll probably change them out just to get air cooling.

I have been searching eBay for a power drivers seat from a wrecked full size Bronco but no luck. Its weird but for some reason there’s a boatload of Bronco sport seats. I’ve never sat in a sport but maybe that’s an option with those universal mounts mentioned in an earlier post.

I’m going to wait until they fully break in. Hoping that does it. I will keep an eye on the corbeau option down the road as from what I see they have some great options. Just comes down to the bracket/airbag/lumbar and heat functionality being able to transfer over etc.

Thanks for the recommendations. It’s good to see the different experiences everyone is having with these seats.

I didn't like the seats at first.

I did the washer tip trick, and that helped, but wasn't everything I was looking for. And finally after several months, I jacked the seat up almost all the way and found some magic position where it just worked. Now i scream if anyone adjusts my seat, and I purposefully keep the passenger seat at the same spot just in case someone decides to move my seat so I can make sure to get it moved exactly back where I had it.

Between the washers to tip the seat back and raising it up much higher than I typically do - that finally did the trick.

Didn't Recaro go out of business or file for bankruptcy or something?

I remember reading something about a bankruptcy. In that article I got the feeling they would still be around, they weren't closing up shop.
I'm going to google that, see what's up ...

edit:
Recaro Automotive GmbH, the German automotive seat manufacturing division, was rescued from bankruptcy in December 2024 by the Italian Proma Group. The company is set to resume operations in early 2025. Other Recaro divisions, such as aircraft seating and gaming, were unaffected by the proceedings.

Background of the Bankruptcy
  • Initial Filing: In July 2024, Recaro Automotive GmbH filed for insolvency (the German form of bankruptcy).
  • Reasons: The filing was attributed to "significant financial difficulties due to extreme price increases in recent crisis years and the loss of a major contract". The company had also been impacted by supply chain issues, which reportedly caused production halts for some OEM clients like Ineos.
  • Divisional Impact: The insolvency only affected the German automotive unit. The separate Recaro Group, which manages Recaro Aircraft Seating, Recaro Gaming, and Recaro Rail, was financially independent and not involved in the bankruptcy.

The Rescue and Future Plans
  • New Investor: Italian automotive components manufacturer Proma Group acquired Recaro Automotive in December 2024, saving it from collapse.
  • Resumption of Operations: Under the new ownership, Recaro's aftermarket seat sales will resume in January 2025.
  • Production Shift: OEM seat production will be relocated from Germany to an Italian facility, though some sales and technology departments will retain staff in Germany.

From my Early Bronco (1G) days, Mastercraft suspension seats were highly coveted.
Those who bulked at the price regretted waiting or having gone the cheap route once they finally dropped the coin for the good stuff.
Buy once, cry once type of thing.

Corbeau and a few others get high marks as well, but the MasterCrafts were the gold standard at the time.
In particular, the Baja RS seats. It looks like they have other models available now. I'm not sure what their best model would be now.

As far as seats & mounts/brackets, I've not looked at the Bronco seat bottoms, but often it can be as simple as making adapter plates to adapt from the seat to the brackets/mounts.

They've been bankrupt twice in 5 years I believe.....there's nothing CN can't do at 1/4 the price, except put Recaro logo on which doesn't mean much to many there big issue is air bagged seats. No one wants to lose airbags because any insurance claim will be declined due to mods, or get injured in the off change get a side hit, plus there's the dash light.
