Looks a lot better than before!
Agree. For $4k and available to actually buy, not a bad hard top at all. Especially if just seasonal for some users.

There is a screw or something on the inside of the fiberglass- occasionally it wants to roll around.
I want to add - I wrote RallyTop about this issue. I got a phone call the next morning: they were willing to ship out an entire new piece if I wanted to. I mentioned I'm more than willing to try to fix it if it's possible - they got guys that put it together to shoot me a video on how to try. I'll dig into it after thanksgiving and give it a shot.

Just wanted to mention this: the company went out of their way to fix a relatively small problem and make me happy, and I appreciate that commitment to their product.

Also, the rear door has been redesigned from mine - it looks a lot more like the OEM door. I don't know how it looks internally, but it does look a lot sharper now.

Is there a defrost on it, or does it defrost like the soft top?

Me, begging aftermarket to make something that is far more modular, ships easier, lighter, and is clearly been market tested and adopted. Few people have the space to store a fixed hard-top clamshell. This has removable back windows and can be covered up in a passing rain shower...

My god the take rate would be through the roof (pun intended)...

Even the New RECON EV intends to do this.... Insulting

eagerly waiting on exactly this too. Supposedly Turn Offroad is making one

Choices like this are exactly what drove Ford down the egg carton rabbit hole. A product like this is also likely to be fragile and unreliable... which is what the OEM hardtop is relative to the Wrangler variant. I don't have data to prove it but my intuition is that sales numbers would have been better with a fixed cab - ie make a more capable 4Runner.

I keep going back and forth on the Rally Top. My main motivation is it is, IMO, the top best suited for a roof rack since you can actually add a real camper shell track system to it (I would get a rhino rack/thule/yakima setup though not the crappy gpa-looking one on their website). I also like that they offer tan as a color option. After adding the tan option ($200) and shipping it comes out to be $5000+ which just seems like a lot considering no wiper/defroster and likely not the best fit and finish. I would also have to buy factory front latches for it since I don’t have the OEM soft top to pull them off of which adds even more cost/hassle. Their same top for the JL and pretty much every other vehicle is around $3000 before shipping which seems way more appropriate for what it is.

I just want a basic functional simple hard top I can use seasonally. And add any basic roof rack I desire. At this point a barely care how it looks as long as it is manufactured reasonably well. The rally tops meets the requirements. It just shouldn’t cost near $5k. It is a $3k top.

I love the soft top so I am going to keep waiting till this crazy supply issue begins to sort itself out as other top options start being more available.

I wanted to revive this thread for some 2024 follow up. How’s Turn Off-road? Seems like Anderson composites is shipping more.

please, any comments or updates would greatly help me make my decision.

87-Z28 - is your soft top liner starting to sag above the front and second rows? Mine is after only 3 months, so I'm not so excited about the oem soft top. Looking for hard top options now. Also curious what others are seeing in the aftermarket hard tops for fit and finish.
